PS3 selling more games than Xbox 360 with smaller install base?

Interesting. It looks like the PS3 is rapidly becoming the bread-winner for many of the third party publishers. This is definitely hard to believe seeing as how it has less of an install base than the 360 and the Wii, but it sure is convincing for all of you PS3 owners, and Sony in general. Now it seems that Konami, Namco Bandi and Ubisoft have joined the ranks of EA where the PS3 console and is now bringing in more money than the Xbox 360.

Braid 2 not likely to be on XBLA?

A recent interview between Gameplayer author David Hellman, and Jonathan Blow talk about through the creation of their innovative, best selling XBLA platformer and why it will likely be their first and last game on Live Arcade.

A portion of the interview:

Did winning that award in 2006 make a very big difference to Braid’s development and, indeed, to your lives generally?

JB: For my part, it was definitely encouraging to get a little bit of external validation, and to call some press attention to the game. It’s possible that the IGF award helped lead to Braid being signed to XBLA, but I’m not sure. It definitely indirectly caused David to become the artist for the game – he was referred to me by someone who saw Braid at the IGF – so the game might be very different today if it hadn’t been a finalist in that awards show.

DH: It’s arguable that the coverage from the award helped me get referred to the project. That would be a pretty big difference in my life. As for whether it helped in other ways, like to get onto XBLA, I don’t know the answer to that. It’s a nice way to get noticed if you are a student or something, but Jonathan has been running the Experimental Gameplay Workshop at GDC, consulting, and doing other game industry stuff for a while, so I’m not sure in Braid’s case.

We Must Find Alternatives to PS3 Mandatory Installs

Well that pretty much goes without saying. The PS3 mandatory installs have been probably the biggest downfalls of the PS3 (besides the price). Now, it’s Far Cry 2 that people are complaining about the mandatory installs. It takes 3.2 gigabytes out of your PS3, which is just ridiculous. I really think that developers need to come up with an alternative the installs, because if they don’t, people are going to just stop buying the games altogether.

Castlevania through the ages

Man, I really can’t believe how long I’ve been playing castlevania, and how many have come out. The games have changed so much, but have stayed the same all at the same time. I own all of them except for a couple of the 3D ones (no big loss there), and I personally think that they’re all good. Which Castlevania games do you like and own?

Californians Sue Over Xbox 360 Flaw

Angry customers are suing Microsoft over the dreaded red rings of death Xbox error. Did Microsoft knowingly manufactured faulty Xbox 360 consoles, and then concealed the failure rate in order to better compete with The PlayStation 3 and Wii?

Fallout 3 looks rubbish on PS3

Alright, the PSM3 blog says that the PS3 verseion of Fallout 3 looks only “slightly worse than the other versions”, but still, what the fuck? There’s no really defending the fact that the PlayStation 3 is the most technically advanced gaming console of the present, and it’s still below-par.
