Breaking Sony news

Here’s some information from Gameplayer.com coming from a Sony event in Sydney:

There will be a massive 60 map/mode combinations available for online play.

The game will offer 100 hours of cooperative play, separate to the single-player campaign.

The MyResistance website will be launching properly in two weeks.

We can now tell you the following information as well. Single-player will be 10-12 hours on normal difficulty.

Insomniac will definitely not be releasing any episodes as DLC like they did with Ratchet & Clank.

The
co-op and single-player are different campaigns, but tell the same
story from a different perspective (like Cyrsis and Crysis Warhead).

The updated MyResistance.net was modelled on Bungie.net.

PSP firmware 5.00 hacked

Oh yes. As been fated with every firmware update for the PSP, version 5.00 has been hacked. The war is still going on between Sony and the hackers, but we’ve still got homebrew, and that’s all that really matters.

Head of Xbox: Nintendo copied us

Really Don, really? Don Mattrick has come out in an interview with OXM UK and has gone on record to say that he invented the whole avatar concept in the first place. He claims that the game ‘4D boxing’, made by his company, on Amiga, DOS, Atari ST and Macintosh, was the first game to feature avatars. Personally I think this is a bunch of bullshit, and they’re just trying to get themselves out of the hole that their in. I guess you can take it as you will though.

Konami Denies 360 Metal Gear Solid 4, Japanese Newspaper Silently Edits Story

It’s pretty obvious that Konami was going to do this, but their are still going to deny that Metal Gear Solid 4 exists for the 360. There have been tons and tons of rumors, but Konami PR rep Yoshitaka Arai told the Japanese branch of investment firm Morningstar, “we are investigating releasing a 360 version.” But GameCyte picked up that Japanese game blog my game news flash noticed that the story was quietly changed. So, is the game going to come out on the 360 or not?

SOCOM Confrontation the Cod4 and Halo killer?

It’s an interesting concept to think of the least, but can SOCOM Confrontation be the Call of Duty 4 and Halo killer? Personally, I don’t think it’s really even feasable at this point, not to say that it’s a bad game, because I haven’t played it yet, but I just don’t think it’s possible at this point.

Far Cry 2: Leaked Across The Net; 360 Piracy Is On The Rise

I’ve been really looking forward towards Ubisoft’s Far Cry 2. In fact next week is too far away for my increasing interest and in order to relieve my hype I’ll be at this weekend’s Gaming Invasion along with Jeff where we shall relieve all the Far Cry 2 craziness inside.

Jeez, I wish I had a bunch of cool people that’d hook me up with some Far Cry 2, not that it’s something that I’m really looking that forward too.

Resistance 2 beta starts today in US, Monday in UK

“The UK Resistance 2 public beta will kick off on Monday 20 October and will run through to 13 November, Sony has confirmed to CVG. Initial access keys for the beta – around 7000 – are being given out via the internet, but there’s every chance more could be made available a little later. The US public beta kicked off today, so it’s all go over the pond. If any of our US readers could tell us exactly what’s in the beta, please email me!

Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams (Exclusive PS3 teaser)

N4G member “thewho” just finished the PS3 version of Bioshock and once unlocked, in the extras menu, there is a 15 second trailer for the sequel. It’s now confirmed that the sequel to Bioshock will be Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams. The trailer shows a grown up little sister holding a big daddy plush toy, while buildings in the form of Rapture rise from the sand. It’s set on the Atlantic Coast.

RUMOR: Next Xbox to be “Forward-Compatible”
