Call of Duty: 5 years of graphics effects
Man, it’s been a long time since the original Call of Duty came out. Man, I was really young back then too! The original Call of Duty used an engine that once was the basis for an id Software shooter in 1999. The game had up-to-date graphics based off of the heavily modified code that it sported. Obviously the game was good enough for sequels upon sequels to come out (and most of them are great!)
2 years later, lil’ ol’ Call of Duty came out. What now? Call of Duty 2 takes place in World War II and utilizes a self developed engine that massively used DX9 features to create the possibly most realistic visualization back in 2005. Take a look at this game right now, it still looks pretty stunning.
Call of Duty 3 came out only on consoles, but that soon transfered into Modern Warfare for the PC, which sported night vision, hight-tech weapons, you know, you’ve probably played the game.
Now you’ve got the recently released Call of Duty 5 on the PS3, 360, Wii, DS, and PC. You’ve got really amazing affects, and as you can see, everything is derived from the first game. To the side, you can see a comparison of all of the games, and you can click the link at the bottom to see more pictures.
