Goodbye, Sony PSP…We’ll All Miss You

psp fails1 Goodbye, Sony PSP...Well All Miss YouThere is no doubt, that the PSP has been a disappointment to all. The device that Sony once touted as “the Walkman for the 21st century” has been selling next to no consoles, and even less games. The device is known for shitty PS2 ports, and everyone just seems to be forgetting about this poor little device.

In November, the Nintendo DS sold an astounding 1.5 million units in the U.S. alone, while the PSP languished, managing just 421,000 sales, which is actually down 27%. It’s weird seeing the sales and install base that the PSP has acquired, as the install base isn’t bad, but you would think that it would be a little higher, as well as sales, with all of the features the system comes with. You’ve got full 3-D rendered graphics, Wi-Fi internet, online radio, online video, demo, and music downloads. All of that, for a relatively cheap price.

It’s sad to see a system fail such as this, as there were a lot of great games out on it, but we can only hope that Sony learns from their mistakes, and that their next portable system, be it a PSP2 or whatever, is a lot better and gets more support.
