“Zune HD” Rumors are Getting WAY Out of Hand

patterson 307008124 1239810038 thumb Zune HD Rumors are Getting WAY Out of HandHaha, the Zune HD rumors have been pretty bad-ass lately. I mean, HD computability, the ability to play Xbox Live Arcade Games, and so on. It’s not like they’re coming at any less of a rate, plus, they’re getting even more ridiculous.

*In a story voice*It all started once upon this morning, when the lovely Engadget posted photos of what is supposedly the new marketing campaign for the…*dramatically slow*Zune HD.

Go take a look at the full pictures so we’re on the same page. Okay, so from the front view, I’m not Apple biased or anything, but the front looks like it could be a touch-screen, and it looks almost like the dimensions as that of the iPod Touch or iPhone. It also looks like a much more slim version of the original Zune.

The Zune HD rumors are getting out of hand though. Wmpoweruser.com posted a list of specifications that, I hate to say, are wishing for. I’m sorry you guys, but I want the kind of drugs that you’re on if your wishing for all of that.

Okay, here’s what they say:

The ZuneHD will have a capacitive, multi-touch OLED screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and TV out, from what looks to be a HDMI port on the side. The radio will now be HD and the device will support HD media playback, which will be available from the updated Zune Marketplace.

The ZuneHD will also support 3D Xbox games, but it is unclear what form this will take.

The device will come in 16 and 32 GB versions, and will support wireless sync.  It will also finally come with a browser that supports multi-touch.

The device is set to launch in Fall, around September, and will also finally be available outside US, in Canada, UK and France, and possibly other European countries.

Okay, so it’s time to get to the criticizing part. Okay, so 3D Xbox games. So what are we talking about here. Halo, XBLA games, what? I highly doubt that Microsoft is going to take the move to put full Xbox games on their little gadget. I’d be the first person to buy the gadget if you could play even original Xbox games, but I mean, with the lack of any controls and hardly any buttons on this device, I just don’t see it happening.

Now, the word “HD” as being applied to the next iteration of the Zune. I mean, HD is around everywhere, apparently it’s on pocket PC’s, and smart phones (which, by the way, don’t really have HD displays). I guess you could get a full HD movie on the new Zune, if you lower the resolution quality a little bit and decompress some stuff, but what’s the point?

I don’t really know. I guess it could all happen and stuff, but I think that the Zune-fanatics are getting out of hand with these “so-called” CONFIRMED: ZUNE HD bullshit. Believe what you want, I’m going to be skeptical till’ I get a press release from Microsoft.
