Nintendo DS Product Line Sells More Than 1.04 Million, Sets Industry Record for April Hardware Sales

The Nintendo DS is kicking ass, and taking names. With the recent launch of Nintendo’s new iteration of the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DSi, according to the independent NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. Nintendo sold more than 827,000 Nintendo DSi systems in April and an additional 215,000 Nintendo DS™ Lite systems, for a combined total of more than 1.04 million. That means that in the United States, the whole life of the Nintendo DS has sold over 30 million units.
To add to that, the Wii also finished in the top ten of April unsurpsingly, including 3 Wii titles, and 3 DS titles. Here’s what they are:
1. Wii Fit – 470,000 sold
2. Pokemon Platinum – 432,000 sold
3. Mario Kart Wii – 209,000 sold
4. Wii Play – 170,000 sold
7. New Super Mario Bros. – 119,000 sold
8. Mario Kart DS – 112,000 sold
