DPrime Review: Fallout 3 The Pitt

WelcomeFallout DPrime Review: Fallout 3 The Pitt

The Pitt on Fallout 3 starts out as a radio signal you can pick up right after you exit the first Vault. The signal is coming from a remote area near the top midde part of your map, its a man who claims to have escaped from a horrible place filled with disease, trogs, and slave bosses. He had been a slave at he Pitt for all of his life before he escaped a few days ago. He wants you to take out a slave group to get slaver clothes so you can sneak into the Pitt and save all of his old friends who are being forced to work in the mills.

So you travel to the Pitt to take down Ashur the one running the whole operation. When you arrive you are told by one of the slaves that almost everyone there is starving, has cancer, or worse have turned into savage monsters called trogs. You are forced to go to the steel  yard, a place that most slaves fear going, to collect ten steel ingots for the slavers. For every ten you bring to the slavers you get one piece of armor or a weapon such as the Mauler, the Perforator, the Metal Blaster, Steel Knuckles, Laborer Outfit, Leather Rebel, Metal Master Armor, Filtration Helmet, Supervisor Helmet, and Tribal Power Armor. After your done with that you are forced to fight in the arena against other slaves, the bear brothers, and one of the only people to ever win the arena.

Soon you are part of uptown which is the upper class of the Pitt that runs the slaves. Ashur commands to see you, so you go to his Mansion and ask him about a cure to the disease that is spreadingaround. He shows you the cure which is his six month old baby and right then and there you have to make a choice, either take the baby and give it to the slaves or leave it there and wait on the scientists to find and cure to share with everyone. If you don’t then after speaking to him again he explains to you his plan and if you actually listen you realize that his plans sound like it is more reasonable than you thought at first.

The Pitt will entertain you for around two to three hours and maybe more if you want to explore all of the Steel Mill and find all the steel ingotsand hidden weapons. It is worth the 800 MP for all of the weapons, armor, fun, and possiblyexperience you get from it. There are weapon shops, food shops, enemies, and people to talk to scattered all around the map. You can get up to three perks, do four missions, visit seven locations, obtain nine different weapons, and get eighteen sets of armor.

What I liked:

  • Lots of Items: There are plenty of items to find and play around with against the trogs or just random slaves.
  • Helps Pile up Experience: If you are level 19 or have the Broken Steel DLC and need to be closer to level 30 then this is a good way to gain a level or two.

What I didn’t like:

  • Not Enough Enemies: There was a very small amount of variety with the enemies. They all were pretty much just trogs, slaves, or slavers and they got dull to fight after a little while.
