DPrime Review: Gears of War Snow Blind Map Pack

Gears of War 2 has recently received another map pack called the Snowblind map pack. This new map pack includes Grindyard, Under Hill, Courtyard and Fuel Depot. All of the new maps are very large scale and will need eight to ten people to play on them normally. The map Grindyard takes place in a industrial complex with very high sniper points and many powerful weapons. It is a very open map that will provide many epic battles.

Under Hill is another fairly open map. Its setting is the frozen tunnels of Sera’s highway, the map also includes parts of an old frozen bridge as well. Inside the tunnels you can open a garage for quick access to the outside or inside. Under Hill has very few weapons but still entertains the player since the map is not a spin off of other maps like some are.

Courtyard is very wide open map with tons of explosive weapons. The maps setting is an old Civic Center on Sera’s surface. Courtyard provides many flanking opportunitiesaround the open middle and the boomshot spawn. The battles on this map usaully take place in the highly elevated sniper tower and the middle of the map.

Fuel Depot is a remake of the well known map from Gears of War Fuel Depot. The old beloved map Fuel Depot was brought back with very few changes other than a sheet of snow on the ground. The maps setting is an abandoned COG fuel depot with broken down cars and fuel tanks. The other thing slightly different is there is a forest outside the map now which really doesn’t change the game play in any way. The snow on the ground will distract you with its gorgous white and red texture combination.

Great review. I think that the Snow Blind map pack is pretty bad ass, and made me actually pick up gears 2 again.
