BioShock 2 Delayed

Bad news Rapture fans, your return will be delayed. Take-Two interactive announced today that BioShock 2 won’t be released during the company’s fiscal 4th quarter as previously planned. When will it come out? That’s the really bad news.
The sequel to very successful BioShock game was previously scheduled for release on November 3, 2009, right at the end of the company’s fiscal 2009. Take-Two has now moved the title to a more vague “fiscal year 2010.” This move could mean it misses the holiday season entirely.
Take-Two is blaming the delay on the need to “provide additional development time for the title.” Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two called the delay “the right decision for the product,” but its impact on the newly revised financial outlook is a “disappointment.”
“The decision to shift a release date is never an easy one, especially with a product as highly anticipated as BioShock 2,” Take-Two CEO Ben Feder said in a financial release. “We felt that it was essential to invest the additional time to ensure that this title will deliver what its fans expect and deserve.”
Take-Two had also relatively recently announced delays of Red Dead Redemption and Mafia II in May, both of which are expected to ship in the publisher’s fiscal 2010 as well.
