Xseed Games Announces The Wizard Of Oz: Beyond The Yellow Brick Road For Nintendo DS

At first glance The Wizard of Oz (orginally known as RIZ-ZOAWD in Japan) for DS would be a shovel ware title, but it’s actually a full fledged RPG that’s some what similar to the Dragon Quest series.  The over-world has an interesting twist of controlling your character via track ball on the bottom screen. Currently it has a Fall 2009 release date, no word on European release.   Screen shots from the press release after the jump.

  1. Looks pretty interesting, but I don’t think that I can play it. I just don’t think I have it in me….

  2. I’m pretty open to everything, so I’d do it lol. I’m the guy who bought Super Princess Peach, and i thought it was actually better then New Super Mario Brothers. I try no to let things like that get in my way of a good game.

  3. Heh, I played Super Princess Peach too, because I’ve always liked the character (floating is fun).

My sister is a die-hard Wizard of Oz fan, so I’ve seen the movies (yes, plural) multiple times with her and heard all about the books. Combined with the fact that this Oz game was made by the team that does Wild ARMs, that means I’m definitely playing it.

Oh, I’ve seen a bit of it already, BTW. The music and graphics are stunning.
