Square-Enix looking into DLC for Final Fantasy XIII

Final Fantasy XIII

When it comes to dollar per hour money value in single player titles, RPGs are the way to go usually lasting around fifty hours just for the main quest.  Increase that time to sixty to seventy hours if you do all the extra content. Square-Enix is thinking about giving Final Fantasy XIII players even more though with downloadable cotent.  Square-enix si thinking about creating Downloadable content for new areas, items and enemies. They did stress though that there would be no new story content via downloadable content, it would be solely gameplay.

Final Fantasy XIII is scheduled for a early 2010 release in North America and Europe.

Disney looking to purchase Marvel video game licenses

marvel civil war1 Disney looking to purchase Marvel video game licenses

Many companies like Disney are starting to get more serious about creating video games. Disney is looking to expand their catalog of games by getting the Marvel Licensse when its current licenses expire. While we probably won’t see a combination of Mickey Mouse and marvel characters, I’m sure Disney will use the license properly as along as they don’t limit their selves to focusing on kids.

New Shattered Horizon In-Game Screenshots

The above images are the first in-game screenshots for Futuremark Games Studio’s latest PC game: Shattered Horizon. Here’s a little overview of the story and what the game’s about:

Shattered Horizon is a multiplayer first-person shooter where players fight in zero gravity surrounded by the broken remains of orbital infrastructure and billions of tons of rocky debris thrown into orbit by a huge explosion on the Moon. With simple and intuitive controls players have complete freedom of movement, making full use of the distinctive environment to control the battle. Shattered Horizon rewards players with gameplay and tactics impossible in games constrained by gravity.
Stunning lighting effects and zero gravity physics give the look and feel of real space, bringing to life an extraordinary and epic vision of the future.

Maybe a little back-story?

Man is back on the Moon and the companies that took him there are reaping huge profits. Their greed soon leads to the largest mining accident in history, when an explosion throws billions of tons of rocky debris into near-Earth space. Fragments of the Moon settle around the Earth and become known as the Arc. With Earth surrounded by debris there’s little chance of rescue or return. Survivors on the Moon are forced into conflict with those trapped on the battered International Space Station. Control of the Arc means the difference between survival and death in the cold of space.

The game is set to release holiday season 2009 and you can find more information over at www.shatteredhorizon.com.

Sony Explains Why You Can’t Remove the Battery From the PSP Go

THIS IS REVOLUTIONARY!!!

THIS IS REVOLUTIONARY!!!

As with every system and technology that has come out through time, the PSP has been prone to hackers and hacking just as much as the next one. Well, Sony is getting pretty pissed about the problem, and as if they weren’t already loosing enough money already, they don’t need people to pirate all the games that come out on the PSP to be attained for free. With the release of the PSP-3000, Sony showed how they were acting on the piracy issue, and Sony’s John Koller made the following comment on the issue:

“We’ve had a lot of success with the 3000,” Koller says when I bring up the issue. While the earlier models of the PSP were incredibly easy to use with ripped or downloaded games, the PSP Go is going to make things tougher on the pirates. “You won’t be able to rip your games and play them on the system, the firmware precludes that,” Koller explained. “There’s no external battery, so there’s a number of protections put into place on the system.”

While this may be a good idea to protect piracy and hacking on the system, I’m sure that hackers will find a way around it, and that also means that when the battery decides to take a shit that means sending it to Sony (for a fee), and getting that one replaced.
