Track Imports for Guitar Hero 5 Finally Delivered
If you’ve ever played Guitar Hero and Rock Band, then you’ll know that sometimes it can be a real drag when you want to play a song that’s on one of the other CD’s from the series. Rock Band 2 already has this feature where you can import songs from its previous, Rock Band. However, with so many games under the belt of Guitar Hero, this can easily become more of a frustration and an inconvenience. Luckily, track imports will be implemented in Guitar Hero 5 as Activision Head of Music Licensing Tim Riley says to IGN,
It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while now,” said Activision head of music licensing Tim Riley to IGN. “They are separate licenses, so we need to go back and re-license previous content. So, songs from World Tour, songs from the download space, songs from Smash Hits that will technically work in Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero had to be renegotiated.
World Tour and Smash Hits are the only ones with this integration so far, but Riley promises on licensing for as many songs possible.
We didn’t want to do it for a couple songs,” added Riley. “We wanted to do it for a couple hundred songs. So we have a lot cleared and we’re in the process of clearing a lot more.
As with Rock Band 2, there will be a small price to import the songs from previous games.
