Weekend Primed: Why Video Game Fans are the Best and Worst of all types of Fans – Part 1

weekendprimed1 Weekend Primed: Why Video Game Fans are the Best and Worst of all types of Fans Part 1Everybody knows that videogame fans are really cool, but also very crazy and sometimes most of the times eccentric. What the hell does this have to do with anything that is going on today in your life right now? Well, since you’re reading this, you probably noticed that this edition of Weekend Primed is about why and how video game fans are the best and the worst type of fans. On here will just be my opinions as always and since I am writing them they are obviously right so don’t try to contradict them in the comments section you Battlestar Galactica fanboys.

By the way, this is just part 1, next weekend will conclude the segment with the rest of the reasons as well as general awesome.

Cosplay

In all different subjects that have fanboys, video game fanboys are far superior. The reasons are simple: you can be skinny, fat, beautiful, or just plain ugly and people can look and enjoy it (or laugh). You didn’t know that the notorious Jessie and James put on a couple pounds after they quit chasing Ash and his Pikachu? Well, video game cosplay can show you just that, because obviously everyone that is dressed up in a costume as something is the real thing.

The other side of cosplay, or as we like to call it…the “beautiful side”, is damn sexy. The kind of cosplaying girls that video game nerds wish they could hook up with. What do these girls dress up like? Obviously school girls, any type of cat, and any girl character from the Final Fantasy series. We love it, and so should everybody else.

Flame Wars

flamewar nuclear option Weekend Primed: Why Video Game Fans are the Best and Worst of all types of Fans Part 1Flame wars are literally the epitome of every discussion on N4G that’s about the PS3 or Xbox 360 (everybody hates the Wii there), and people take gaming seriously on the internet. People argue about fucking everything in flames wars and comment sections. “OMG THE PS3 IS GOING TO WIN THE CONSOLE WAR! IT HAS ALL OF THE EXCLUSIVES!!!” or “Waggle Control? More like FAGGLE CONTROL!”. Trust me, they get worse from there.

The one thing to love about flame wars is that no matter what, people will say whatever they can to make their point, even if there’s no support behind their ideas or thoughts just so that they can argue for even longer. It’s ridiculous, but it is what makes video game fanboys stand out from every other fanboy on the face of the planet.

Nothing’s Ever Good Enough

When it comes to video game fans, nothing is ever good enough. Whenever a new game comes out that looks amazing (picture above: Gran Turismo 5: Prologue), it can always be better. People nitpick at every little stupid thing, and nothing is ever good enough in people’s minds. You don’t like the story or plot changes in a game? Go onto a forum and complain and whine – it’s as simple as that.

Want to know why beautiful 2D games and hand-drawn spritework is gone? Because people of this generation are so apt to play only play 3D games and not really care or worry about other sprite-based and 2D games that they just don’t sell. That’s not to say that 2D games and truly sprite-based games don’t sell, but that they are a risk for developers with not as much money as the big boys to make and if they don’t sell then they’re out working hours and a product that could potentially be a hit.
