blu ray xbox 360 Microsoft says that the 360 doesnt need blu ray, but we already knew thatMicrosoft knows what the hell’s up when it comes to hi-definition and consoles, and red rings, and stuff like that. Speaking to CVG, Stephen McGill, the director of Xbox and Entertainment had some interesting information about the future of blu-ray and the 360.

“We have no plans to adopt [a] Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360. In fact, the future of home entertainment started last autumn when Xbox 360 became the first and only console to offer instant-on 1080p streaming HD movies.”

It makes sense. I mean blu-ray is the past, streaming HD movies on a video game console is the hear and now. Oh wait…yeah, what the fuck? Maybe in the Xbox 720 or whatever their next console is, but it is definitely surprising to hear that they have no plans of blu-ray on the 360. Oh well I guess, I don’t think that multi-layered discs could help at all..right?

  1. I think they will take it to the next step with streaming; don’t buy game discs anymore, simply stream it off the net. That’s the model that Steam uses for its games.
