MAGFest X Announced with New Location for 2012

Rocking out at MAGFest

Here in the Mid-Atlantic, we don’t get many conventions.  Things like PAX, E3, and Comic-Con tend to favor the West Coast, and even off-shoots like PAX East pale in comparison to their sunny brothers.  Fortunately, there’s MAGFest, one of the fastest growing East Coast conventions that brings gamers together for a full weekend of concerts, arcade games, panels, vendors, and overall awesomeness.  The next iteration, MAGFest X (as in 10) will be taking place early next year on January 5-8.  MAGFest has exploded in popularity in the past year and actually maxed out fire code capacity at their original location in Alexandria, VA.  So this year, the accomodate the growing masses, MAGFest X will actually be held at the Gaylord Center in National Harbor, MD, which may be familiar to some as the location of Katsucon.

I attended this past year and will be attending next year as well, as it’s a genuinely exciting atmosphere that is made of the stuff gamers love.  Featuring awesome guests such as The Angry Video Game Nerd, Hey Ash Watcha Playin, brentalfloss, and Jon St. John and amazing bands like The Megas, The Protomen, and Metroid Metal, MAGFest 9 was a hit among all who attended.   Only a few guests have been announced for next year’s event, including The Megas and the creator of the “Awesome” flash series, but more will be announced as the year goes on.  You can go ahead and pre-register on the official site as well as reserve a hotel room for the weekend for a special price.  If you’re interested, act fast, because they sold out last time and it could very easily sell out again.
