ICO and Shadow of the Colossus Gets Reversible Box Art, No Longer Looks Like a Tool

SotC Reversable

It’s no secret that I was pissed when the final boxart for the ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection was revealed a few months ago.  Especially when the Japanese version got nice, clean, stark covers, showing off some beautiful artwork.  But hey, at least we got it on one disc here, and not two.  Anyway, Sony just revealed that the US game will come with reversible artwork, giving us a pretty Critereon-esque cover for the games, as you can see in the header image.  While the Shadow of the Colossus is a bit less iconic when compared to its Eastern counterpart, it’s really great to see the beautiful real ICO cover stateside.  Any fan of the game know just how derpy the first one was (it’s so hideous, I’m not even going to link to it).  I’m just glad to see that it’s also the one that will be featured on the front of the package.

Say, why don’t more games include covers like this, so we can just ignore all that advertising on the box once we’ve actually bought the games?  Just a thought.

The ICO & Shadow of the Colossus Collection hits the PS3 this fall on September 27th.
