Earlier today at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Fransisco Jack Tretton, the head of SCEA, announced the release date of the PlayStation Vita for everywhere outside of Japan. Sony’s upcoming handheld will be dropping in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia on February 22, 2012.
The Vita will come in two flavors, a wi-fi only model for $249 and a 3G enabled one for $299. It will also have one of the most solid launch game line-ups of any system in recent memory, including Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, and Uncharted Golden Abyss.
The Japanese market will be getting the Vita on December 17 of this year.
John Callahan has been a fan of video games since the second he laid eyes on Mega Man X way back in 1993. Since then it's been his (let's say hobby) of choice. If you can think of a major gaming console, he has it. If you can think of a game, there's a good chance he's played it. He started a gaming website back in 2010 called Gamerzitch, left that to work at The Gamer Studio, and has now found a new home as news writer and host of the Primecast at Default Prime. He also loves Lost and Prince.
