As I’ve gotten older and older, my interest waned in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. I don’t know why, maybe because I would spend my older Thanksgiving just vegging out on the big family TV playing games or something. Every once in a while though, it seems like there’s been reasons to check it out just to see what happens– such as when the Foster’s float rickrolled all of downtown New York, with Rick Astley himself. Well, it looks like nerds might have another excuse to flip to the channel inbetween rounds of whatever blockbuster game they’ll be playing. In honor of the hedgehog’s 20th anniversary, a giant blue Sonic balloon will be at the very front of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade tomorrow. It’s a pretty good looking balloon allowing for a rather nubby interpretation of modern Sonic. This is actually the second time a Sonic balloon has appeared in the parade since 1993.
All I know is that if there is not a band or speaker system blasting “Sonic Boom” or “Super Sonic Racing” behind the big guy, I’m gonna be very disappointed in Sega.
