Gabe Newell And Tim Cook Never Actually Met

Apple - Valve

So…it’s seems as though most of the internet was fooled into thinking that Apple and Valve were close to getting into bed with one another. For a while now, we’ve all been thinking that Apple’s Tim Cook went to Valve and he and Gabe Newell were making plans for something big, but now Gabe Newell has come out and said that never happened. He’s never even met Tim Cook!

This revelation comes from the very first episode of the 7 Day Cooldown Podcast where the cast talked with Gabe Newell himself:

“We actually, we all sent mail to each other, going, ‘Who’s Tim Cook meeting with? Is he meeting with you? I’m not meeting with Tim Cook.’ So we’re… it’s one of those rumors that was stated so factually that we were actually confused.”

“No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day. I wish we were! We have a long list of things we’d love to see Apple do to support games and gaming better. But no, we didn’t meet with Tim Cook. He seems like a smart guy, but I’ve never actually met him.”

So my questions are these: Who started this seemingly plausible rumor that Tim Cook went to Valve? Or are Gabe Newell and Valve trying to cover it up? I’m not sure what to believe anymore. My head kinda hurts.

Kyree didn't have an N64 or Dreamcast as a kid (so sad) and he doesn't remember finishing any of his PlayStation games, but skip to the PS2/GC/Xbox era and everything changed. He hasn't been outside to play tag in forever, but he can recall playing way too much Smash Bros. and even more Kingdom Hearts; seriously, he can recite lines from it. I think he may have a problem.
