The PlayStation Vita seems to have slowed down recently due to a lack of excited new titles, but a little app called Skype is coming to the handheld and may entice you into picking your Vita back up to play around with it.
The Skype App will run just fine on the 3G/Wifi or Wifi only versions of the Vita and will run in the background to not take up your gaming time. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, you can pause whatever game you’re currently playing, take your Skype call then return to your game without any hassle. You can also call landlines or mobile phones, but only if you’re willing to use a little Skype Credit.
Was Skype something Vita owners were really asking for? It’s a nice option to have, sure, but it doesn’t sound like you can play your game and have a Skype call at the same time. That would be a real selling point. I don’t have a Vita myself, but I think I’d feel a bit silly talking to my Vita.
Any Vita owners going to try this out? I’d like to know if this beats using Skype on the computer or an actual phone.
Kyree didn't have an N64 or Dreamcast as a kid (so sad) and he doesn't remember finishing any of his PlayStation games, but skip to the PS2/GC/Xbox era and everything changed. He hasn't been outside to play tag in forever, but he can recall playing way too much Smash Bros. and even more Kingdom Hearts; seriously, he can recite lines from it. I think he may have a problem.
