Amazon’s German site has the Nintendo Wii U console set for a December 21st, 2012 release date. Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii U will be a holiday 2012 release, however, not official date has been announced from them directly. According to the German listing, the Wii U will sell for €399, or about $500. The site also explicitly says that Nintendo has not set a price point for the Wii U and that the listing price is shear speculation.
There have been many analysts believing that the Wii U has to be priced at or below $300 in order to be competitive. This is in addition to other reports that the materials needed to create the Wii U was only $180 – indicating that a selling point of $300 or below is reasonable.
Still no official announcement regarding the release date has been given by Nintendo, but this Amazon posting date has not been refuted either.
