Skyrim, a Two Hour Game?

Fans of The Elder Scrolls franchise know that these games tend to be anything but a quickie. Roaming, exploring, breaking into people’s homes, it’s all part of the lengthy experience. Bethesda promises us two to three hundred hours of gameplay but apparently The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim can be brought to its knees in less than three.

This fact has been proven during the customary speedrun competition. Bethesda made this competition to find out how quickly they can beat their own games. Knowing these developers are aware of every glitch and shortcut, it’s not likely their record will be broken any time soon. Jeff Brown and Sam Bernstein went head to head in this competition but it was Bernstein who stood victorious. He finished the game in 2 hours, 16 minutes and ten second, only 20 seconds faster than his opponent. Bernstein was rewarded with a trophy and a cake that Todd Howard (Executive producer for Bethesda) baked himself. Bernstein did the same thing 3 years ago when he made the Fallout 3 credits appear only 75 minutes after he started playing.

Of course this doesn’t mean that Skyrim will actually be a short game, you didn’t cancel all your November social activities for nothing, so don’t worry. And if you still don’t believe me, check out the video below of someone finishing The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind in under 8 minutes and try remembering how much time it took you. You see, nothing to worry about.

Born in Belgium and a Sony boy all the way. Playstation was like a little brother to me and as the years have gone by, we have both matured a lot. I also own a NES and I frequently find myself playing it and enjoying the simplicity of the games back then. Sports also represent a big part of my life and a result of that I like sports games as well. Nothing better than an afternoon of FIFA with some friends, college style.
