The Last of Us will not be available to consumers in 2012. Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Worldwide Studios boss, confirmed that the game would be a 2013 release to VG247 in an interview saying:
We are not ready to talk about 2013. But some of the games we showed like God of War and The Last of Us are not coming out this year.
This confirmation is the most specific date that has been set for The Last of Us. Neither Sony nor Naughty Dog had divulged details of the release date. The game was heavily featured within Sony’s press conference, showing off new gameplay videos and features. A seven minute long gameplay video can be seen below:
Yoshida also touched on a key point for Sony, and one possible reason that focus is not being more focused on PS3 titles: Vita is still very young. Having been out only four months to date, this upcoming year is a crucial one for Vita. In regards to the Vita, Yoshida commented:
It’s its second year next year; it’s a really crucial year for us so we will continue to invest in making games from our first party studio standpoint, and at the same time, we would like to see more publishers do games like Assassin’s Creed III Liberation; that is fantastic.
Lucas has evolved in his video game preferences. With a foundation in predominantly sports game, action adventure games are now his favorite to play. He is a competitive swimmer and likes to play volleyball, basketball, and golf.
