Welcome all to Default Prime’s LiveBlog of the Sony Conference for February 20, 2013. The question on everyone’s minds is this the day that Sony shows us the PlayStation 4? Are all the rumors floating around about Streaming PS3 titles via Gaikai, the “leaked” images of the new DualShock, and the end of used games as we know it true? Is it at all backwards compatible? Can it really cook your dinner while you wait? We’ll be here to help you find out the truth behind Sony’s big announcement and commentary on what’s to come for Sony’s future. Look forward to all this and more as we liveblog the conference.
And now an outro montage to wrap it all up. That’s the conference, that’s the whole goddamned convention. You know what I think, but what do you think? Tell us in the comments below, and thanks very much for sticking around Default Prime all day for our live blog coverage of the E3 conferences. Now let’s go stand in line and buy a PS4!
Holiday season, like the XBone, no set date, yet.
399 Dollars Price Point Announced.
Go fucking home and cry in your beer Microsoft.
Cloud service begins in the US in 2014, PS4 and then Vita games – from the PS3 library.
Andrew House is back out to talk about the Gaikai partnership…
Devil Walker reminiscent of the Giant Enemy Crab. Hit it in it’s weak point for massive damage!
Public event in Destiny where you can join up with others to take down, for instance, a giant airship.
Calling it right now, it’s not even close, Sony “won” E3.
Back to Destiny, it’s still weird to me to see an FPS game with loot.
Twitter/Internet response just blown away by the counterstrike on Microsoft’s bad bad image over the last few weeks. GAME OVER MAN!! GAME OVER!
Game is visually beautiful, and also quite dark. My Samsung TV is going to hate this thing.
PlayStation+ members will also get a new title every month after that.
A video on Destiny up next.
PlayStation Plus members will get immediate access to Drive Club when the PS4 launches.
Existing PlayStation Plus Membership will carry over to the PS4. Benefits across the PS3, Vita, and PS4 all for the one price.
Onto some details on the PS Network…
Stuff we knew from February, the share button, the play games that are mid-download, all available day 1 of the launch.
The crowd went nuts over that announcement.
Don’t need to be connected online to play.
No periodic checking in online.
Won’t stop working if you haven’t authenticated within 24 hours.
Sony just won. NO RESTRICTIONS ON USED GAMES.
Funny, he mentions Call of Duty, FIFA, and Madden. #Fratbox.
Jack Tretton is sent back out to likely closeout the show, so hopefully we get a price point in the next 20 minutes.
Because it is. Mad Max.
Another new game, looking very Mad Maxish…
Coming to PS4 with an exclusive beta on the PS4. Game comes out in 2014.
And now The Elder Scrolls Online. So, a very quick step into sports and then out again.
This motherfucking game. I want, so badly.
On Sony platforms, we’ll get an extra hour of exclusive content.
Now talking about NBA 2K.
Creating an EMP by overloading a transformer…
Using a tablet to scramble electronics in the game, stopping a helicopter from chasing you.
Stealth takedowns. Not so stealth takedowns…
Shows unlocking a gate in a tunnel to escape the cops, then unlocking an entrance to a coffee shop. Hacking a surveilance camera in someone’s apartment. Then turning on musical instruments remotely to distract your ally’s would-be attackers.
Driving portion of the game, not seen before, attempting to reach an ally before the cops do.
Jonathan Morin, creative director for Watch_Dogs is on stage now to show off more of the must-have game that no one yet has.
I know! Sea Battles were so fun in AC III, let’s make them the whole fucking game in AC IV!
Final Fantasy XV looks nuts. This could be so much fun.
Kingdom Hearts game was KH 3.
Final Fantasy XIV announced as Sony exclusive for PS3/PS4.
Now they’re demoing ARRsassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.
Ok so it turns out Final Fantasy XIII Versus has now turned into Final Fantasy XV.
Now showing a new Kingdom Hearts. Bear with me and I’ll get some FFXV shots up.
Square Enix, here comes our exclusive FF title.
No details today, however he did mention it was the FFXIII Versus Title. FUCKING FINALLY!
Moving on to “Giant Blockbuster Games”
Blizzard – Diablo III with Exclusive Items from Sony’s games like Drake’s Amulet and more.
Everyone of the games mentioned will be making their exclusive console debut on the PS4.
Sony’s developing the world’s best indie game portfolio by allowing developers to self-publish. Who knew?
Now introducing a few new additions to the PS family:
- Clay Entertainment
- Tribute Games – Mercenary Kings. These guys created Scott Pilgrim vs. The World as well.
- Young Horses – Octo Dad Deadliest Catch
- Switchblade Monkeys – Secret Ponchos
- Ragtag Studios – Ray’s Dead
- Oddworld Inhabitants – Abe’s Oddyssey Remake!
- 17-Bit Games – Galaxy
There was one other horror game, but the video skipped ahead so I’m afraid I didn’t get the name of the studio or game.
This was awesome. Well done Quantic Dream.
Sony now displaying their penchant for indie partnerships, with SuperGiant Games next title, exclusive to the PS4, Transistor.
Mentions Quantic Dream from the February reveal about displaying a much wider array of emotions.
Quantic Dream has a new tech demo to show us… all running in real time on PS4.
Knack & Killzone launch titles.
Infamous: Second Son Q1 2014 release.
More Drive Club footage. I’m so sick of driving games.
Infamous: Second Son, the whole reason I’m buying a PS4 right now, I want this game NOW!!
And finishes up this segement with Knack.
Killzone: Shadowfall, this game world looks so amazing, it’s a shame it’ll all be destroyed in the war.
First exclusive IP is The Order 1886, looks like a Steam-punk vampire hunter game.
Over 30 PS4 titles (20 available in the first year of launch of PS4) being worked on at Worldwide Studios.
Out of the 20 titles, 12 of them are brand new IP.
Sony Worldwide Studios consists of 14 studios…
When considering the PS4, they listened to what Developers wanted but also what Gamers wanted.
Looks like Twitter might be built in?
Shuhei Yoshida is up next to talk about those games that are in development.
“Of course, at it’s core, the PlayStation is about breakthrough gaming experiences.”
Talking about partnerships with Netflix, Hulu, RedBox Instant, and a new “Live Events Viewer” will showcase Pay-Per-View events.
This is how you do it Microsoft, Sony kept this portion brief. Andrew House is back up to talk about Video Unlimited, Music Unlimited, both of which will be available on the PS4 on Day 1.
Sony Pictures working on original programming for the PlayStation Network.
So what do we think about the design of the box? It’s pretty slick looking, and I like that it can be both horizontal and vertical. The second I saw it though, it totally reminded me of the PS2.
Michael Lynton, CEO of Sony Entertainment is out now to talk about the entertainment aspect of the device.
The PlayStation 4 Unveiled.
Andrew House introduced and starts talking about the sheer power of the PS4.
Shifting focus to the PS4…
Says more info on GTA V will be in the coming weeks. Hmm. Perhaps coming to PS4?
Jack brings up an exclusive GTA V bundle for the PS3 on Sept 17th, including a GTA V soundscape headset.
Batman out October 25th.
Black Mask pays out 50 mil to whoever can Kill The Bat on Christmas eve.
I can’t wait for Batman: Arkham Origins.
Beyond Two Souls comes out October 8th.
Gran Turismo 6 now, and I still have to wonder why this is coming to the PS3 and not the PS4…
Beyond: Two Souls, and Willem Dafoe.
Rain kind of reminds me of an Ico type of game.
Vita the “ultimate companion device” for the PS4.
Now onto footage of The Last of Us.
A new Vita bundle around The Walking Dead including the first season Telltale game and a new expansion called “400 Days.”
God of War HD 1 & 2, and FFX and X-2, also coming to Vita.
More than 85 titles will launch on Vita this year including Batman: Arkham Origins, Counter Spy, Destiny of Spirits, Doki-Doki Universe, Killzone Mercenary, and Tearaway.
Don’t get me wrong, I love my Vita, but I don’t have much to do with it. Jack, show us what’s coming!
Vita: Entering it’s 2nd year, 125 Vita dedicated games. BUT WHERE ARE THE GAMES?!?
Starting with Vita & PS3 perhaps.
Thanks people who were waiting since Friday to get into this presentation, holy crap that’s a long time to wait for this…
Jack Tretton opening the conference, naturally.
It wouldn’t be a Sony presser without a Montage.
By the way, for those of you who have been following our live-blogs all day, thanks for sticking around Default Prime, it’s been an exhausting and fun day. Sony, always the fashionably late one is keeping us waiting, as soon as things get started you’ll see me posting things.
Thus concludes the first Montage of all the developers in the world telling us what a great system the PS4 will be to develop on. Up next, the actual Sony Conference!
Time for a developer montage.
For you Gran Turismo megafans, GT Academy is returning for Gran Turismo 6.
Sony’s pre-show has started, the event itself has 10 screens, so there’s going to be a whole lot of shit to see.
And that wraps up the conference. There was some good, some not so good, but overall I think Ubi had a pretty strong showing for several different demographics, and The Division officially went on my watch list.
What about you? What did you think of the show? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned as Default Prime has one more conference to cover tonight, with Sony being last and certainly not least for today’s Mega E3 Extravaganza.
Tom Clancy’s The Division. Color me impressed. This title will be on both PS4 and XBox One. Very strong finish for Ubi tonight.
Seems to be PVE and PVP oriented.
VERY realistic looking NYC.
Seeker Mines are awesome.
Third person shooting.
Teammates listed on screen one says [AFK – Tablet], so looks like this will be another multi-device game.
Ubisoft holding a PS4 controller for demo.
Player opens up an overlay map showing a large portion of the city and where to go next on his current mission.
The Division? The sound quality is getting really bad on this presentation…
An alternate history starting in 2001, then in 2007 there’s a presidential directive to fuck over the citizens…
WHAT THE HELL IS THE TITLE OF THIS GAME?
Perhaps Black Friday. Today I learned the flu virus can last 17 days on a dollar bill.
Is this game called Dark Winter, Fragile Complex, House of Cards…?
Yves came back out to stop Aisha from blabbering on, talking about an open-world online RPG for the Next Gen…
Don’t get me wrong, Trials games are fun and all, but… next gen before there was a next gen?
Also Trials Frontier for mobile games.
Finishing up with Trials Fusion, calling the Trials series “next gen before there was next gen”, not so sure about that one Aisha.
Another Arrsassin’s Creed IV trailer to close out the show. I think anyway since we’re running a little late I’m not sure if Ubi has one more thing up their sleeve or not.
Ubi continually outdoes themselves with this franchise.
Whoops, meant ARRsassin’s Creed.
Back to the “core gamer goodness”. Looks like we’re finishing up with Assassin’s Creed IV. No real surprises tonight I guess.
Like it when people yell at the screen while watching TV? You’re about to hate it even more now. This will be an XBox One exclusive from the sounds of it, naturally everything is
better with Kinect.
Looks like it’ll be on Nickelodeon, not sure how it will be interactive though?
Announcement of Rabbids Invasion Interactive Television Show… Whut?
Another Just Dance Game.
This game looks goddamned amazing. I took a bunch of screens of the latest trailer, will post shortly.
Dominic Guay, executive producer of the title is up to talk about it.
Oh I think it’s time for Watch_Dogs!
Build your car on a tablet, and race it in the game. Ok that part is actually cool.
And just when you think it’s over, another crew comes up to challenge the crew. And then another… and another…
Bring back that laser tag game!
My money is on Fergus to beat Sly, Steve, and Paul.
I’m kidding, of course, I hope… Remember that Ubi conference? Jesus. That was horrible. That was actually worse than Mr. Caffeine if you can remember him.
Up next: James Cameron, the bravest pioneer.
You can be a car that only performs well on the road and competed against a ghost car that can only perform well on dirt so you both take different ways to get to your destination… They are spending SO MUCH TIME on this…
Now you too can be Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious…great.
Games we know about this year: Forza, Gran Turismo, Need For Speed, Drive Club, “The Crew”, and I’m sure I’m forgetting some because after a while they all just blend together… #Disappointed.
Why is it everyone who wants to show off how great they are at programming does a super slick looking car game? Why can’t we have a super slick looking ANY OTHER FUCKING TYPE OF GAME?!?
Next gen title called “The Crew”…
Says Ubisoft loves new consoles…
Time to bring out Yves.
Coming this holiday season, or some holiday season, you know how video games are. Well put Eric Cartman… DAMMIT we still don’t have a solid release date.
We damn well better be getting a release date on this game tonight.
SOUTH PARK UP NEXT!
The hero in the trailer is amusing. Shades of Dirk The Daring meets Troy McClure.
Kind of looks like a tablet game, not really sure who this is aimed at.
Simple goal: Steal from your neighbors, and protect your pile of loot. Okay.
Now for… The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot…
Rayman’s looking a little different these days.
Rayman Legends: September 3rd Release Date.
Rayman Legends up next.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist comes out in August.
Splinter Cell footage. Can’t wait to try this game out for myself.
Splinter Cell Blacklist being talked about now.
This stream of a stream has some horrendously low audio quality, I’m not hearing everything so great…Sounds like the Rocksmith game will be out in October.
Ok, not Rocksmith 2, but “Rocksmith All-New 2014 Edition”. Horrible name. Aisha Tylor is back to host with her ever-ridiculous catchphrase #girlwood. Ugh.
Now jamming with himself via RockSmith.
I’m guessing RockSmith 2.
Playing Man in the Box…
Jerry Cantrell from Alice In Chains to open the conference. Is he hosting?
Ok, found a back-up site for the stream, hopefully this one holds out. Since it’s a stream of a stream however it might be a little delayed.
We see this screen, it plays music for about 15 seconds, and then just stops. Lesson hopefully learned for Ubi next year: use UStream.
Ubi’s Youtube stream is already having issues, this could make for a long conference…
Join us back here in less than an hour for our coverage of the Ubisoft E3 2013 conference at 6pm Eastern.
And they’re done, EA showed off some great titles, but honestly I’m underwhelmed. I was expecting more, new, different, something to really blow me away, and they just didn’t do it. They stayed the course, they showed great games, but nothing that we didn’t already know about, including Mirror’s Edge which had leaked before the show.
What did you all think? Let us know in the comments below.
We’re 2 conferences down with two more to go today, so keep it locked into to Default Prime all day and all during E3 as the coverage keeps on going.
Sadly, video kept skipping so I couldn’t get a good screenshot.
I’d recognize that leg anywhere, looks like she’s back. Mirror’s Edge 2!
Wrapping up, sound like one more thing…
David’s view of the Battlefield 4: Commander announcement.
Have I mentioned how amazing this game looks visually?
Honestly, who talks like that to their squadmates?
Battlefield 4: Commander Mode, play on your console or on your tablet, kind of looks like Battlefield 4: Risk.
The prettiest game in war, Battlefield 4 is up next.
Madden 25 from the conference.
The game contains a new “MMAi” system for artificial intelligence. What that means exactly… they weren’t clear on, but now that they’ve moved on to talking about physics and full-body deformation, I guess it doesn’t matter.
Jon Jones & Benson Henderson come out with Dana White and an EA Exec to detail the latest iteration, and the first one since UFC moved from THQ to EA Sports.
Fully playable next-gen version of FIFA 14 is available at E3, so they’re ready for the XBox One and PS4 at EA Sports.
FIFA 14 announced next. I’m not one for that kind of footy myself, but I can’t deny it looks amazingly detailed.
NBA Live stage shot with Kyree Irving.
First gameplay footage trailer of Madden 25, oh my god, you have to appreciate just how good this looks!
Really starting to blur the lines between fantasy and reality.
Madden, as always, looks amazing. No picture I could take would do any justice I’m afraid.
NFS & Dragon Age: Inquisition
David sends in 2 more pictures, this time from Titanfall:
Starting off with NBA Live 14, looks crazy realistic.
Shots of Dragon Age: Inquisition.
EA Sports opens up with a video montage detailing the first games to today’s games.
DA: I comes out fall of 2014, Bioware is “taking their time to get it right.”
Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Oh yay another car. What is with showing off real cars when you’re trying to show off a car game?
Looks. So. Good.
Need For Speed: Rivals, Criterion might be striking gold again with this, but GOD DAMMIT I WANT A NEW BURNOUT EA!
A new Need For Speed is shown…
Dice is working on a new Star Wars Battlefront!!!
David will be sending us sights from the conference, and we’ll post them as they come in.
Looks fun. Also announced, Peggle 2.
Up next, more Titanfall, or for those of you who didn’t see Microsoft’s conference, Titanfall!
PvZ Garden Warfare seems to be an exclusive for Xbox One & Xbox 360, though I’d have to think PC is getting this too. Surprised Popcap still shows no love to Sony.
My mistake, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, the Team Fortress type PvZ game.
Opening up with Plants vs Zombies 2.
Mike Patuleia here filling in for David Galanter, who unfortunately while at the conference cannot connect to EA’s shitty wifi. And away we go…
And that’s the conference.
Microsoft needed to come out swinging after all the recent bad imaging on the XBox One, and I think they did show that they’re still about the games for the most part. There wasn’t anything totally overwhelming, we saw a little more of Quantum Break, and we saw the graphical prowess of the system, which was very impressive, everything looked pretty great.
Overall, I’d say they definitely did what they had to after the initial showing of the XBox One, but I’m not sure if they did enough to save all they lost before. What about you? Tell me what you think in the comments section below.
That’s it for Microsoft, Electronic Arts is up next.
It’s a shame I’m so burned out on FPS games, because it’s a beautiful game. Looks like Mech control is also First-Person, so that trailer was a bit off in its representation there.
Ah, right, Titanfall.
An FPS, but also has a third person Mech shooter component…
One final exclusive to close…
Price point announced 499 dollars, this November.
Starting to feel like they’re wrapping up a bit…
Yep. Halo, the first one for the Xbox One. Will run at 6o frames per second.
I smell Halo…
Missed what that last one was called but it was all in-game engine rappelling down to kill a bad guy. Looked awesome.
Called “Below”. Kind of looks like a modern take on Gauntlet.
Phil Spencer is back to introduce another exclusive…
This guy STILL looks pissed about the game not starting properly.
If war could ever be considered visually beautiful, it would be through this game.
Dice, as always, has outdone themselves again, Battlefield 4 looks amazing.
Technical difficulties, here’s a picture of the Witcher.
Looks like Microsoft had some technical difficulties showing off Battlefield 4 as well. I wonder if it was a lapse in their internet connection…
The Witcher 3 with Kinect. Claims to be “Easily 100 dollars worth of content”… oh please don’t tell me you’re going to try to sell this game for 100 bucks.
Luckily, it appears they are still too stupid to climb on a car or van you might be on top of.
A billion zombies vs one guy with a wrench, these games are always insane.
Dead Rising 3 announced.
A new Panzer Dragoon looking game from the makers of Panzer Dragoon called Crimson Dragon is coming out, looks nice, but there was no sound…
You can now have more than 100 friends and use actual currency on XBox Live.
Broadcasting can be done live on Twitch TV just by saying “Xbox Broadcast”.
Ok, Sony definitely needs to put something like this Upload Studio into their sharing system.
Killer Instinct: Ripping off Hadouken since 1994.
Game DVR sounds interesting, especially if you can edit and share as they say. Could be good for the LP industry.
Game looks fun. This is the kind of thing I wanted to see from Microsoft today, fun GAMES.
One player can create the landscape while another actually plays the game.
Must everyone trying to play with Kinect sound so over the top? NICE MOVE ROCK MAN!
Project Spark seems to be some sort of “game maker”. Sony would eat this kind of thing up for their Play-Create-Share program.
This guy just put together a game environment with his voice, because you know, everything Kinect.
If all studios under Microsoft are called Microsoft Studios, how do they tell them apart?
Quickly followed up by a very unique/quirky looking title called D4, a trailer, but no real details on that.
A shot of the game running in real time. WOW.
Quantum Break developer Remedy up next, here’s hoping for some concrete details on this intriguing title.
Minecraft 360 is coming to the XBox One.
Phil Harrison coming out to talk about Microsoft still looks bizarre to me.
Gotta say one thing, the Forza team always knows how to make a beautiful looking car game.
Forza 5 comes out by unveiling an actual car. What conference am I covering again?
If it’s got a wacky gun, it must be Insomniac.
Zip lines remind me a bit of Bioshock Infinite.
Nice, not a driving game.
Killer Instinct returns, but even bigger, WOW. Insomniac shows up to Microsoft to introduce a new title called “Sunset Overdrive”.
I keep waiting for a massive god/monster/thing to show up…
Combat looks fun and visceral as hell. This picture does it no justice, either.
Brand new IP: God of War.
I mean Ryse.
Phil Spencer is up next to talk about Microsoft Studios games.
Ah, because it was. Dark Souls II.
Up next: A very Dark Souls looking game.
I missed the developer name, someone out of copenhagen making a very DreamWorks animated looking game about wishing your brother away and then going to rescue him called Max: The Curse of Brotherhood.
World of Tanks free to play, this summer on the 360.
World of Tanks video is played, game looks interesting, but reminds me of a next-gen version of the Atari 2600 game, Combat. World of Tanks is just that. Tanks blowing up other tanks everywhere. Could be lots of fun.
I will say the visuals in this game are freakin amazing. I wish I could show you, but the feed on xbox.com doesn’t want to cooperate at the moment.
Microsoft opening up with an open-world Kojima/Konami game on horses. #RedDeadMetalGear.
Word has it that the conference has started, but it sure hasn’t yet on xbox.com.
Not much of a surprise, but the target for release is “November”. Hopefully a more exact release date will be announced during the conference, in just a mere 10 minutes.
Green as a cold, refreshing Mountain Dew. Image courtesy of
@ElisaRockDoc, since she’s got one of the best seats in the house. We’re only about half an hour away now. Will they open with a montage?
Conference will be underway in less than an hour, make sure you have your Doritos & Dew. #Fratbox One. Microsoft you better be looking to impress, because this should not be a thing.
Come back here at 9:30AM Pacific / 12:30PM Eastern to watch it all unfold!
Tune in at 1pm PST on Monday June 10th.
Final thoughts on tonight’s conference.
1)Let’s run down the rumor mill:
Leaked DualShock, check.
No More Used Games, No check.
PS3 (or PS Library) Streaming via Gaikai, check.
2 Price points, not answered.
PS4 Eye Toy, Check.
PS4 Eye Pad, Nope.
Specs: 1.6 GHz, Custom GPU, 4-8GB Ram, 500GB HDD & Integrated Wi-Fi, a little of column A & a little of column No.
2)Impressive specs, lots of crazy particle physics, but to be expected from something running Unreal 4 engine ( and various publisher proprietary engines as well)
Was my “Do Want!” of E3 2012, and looks even more awesome today.
4)Live broadcasting of your gameplay sessions, how freakin’ cool is that?
5)Did Sony sell us on why you absolutely positively must move into the future with them?
They made a strong case, but we’ll see what MSFT has up their sleeves at E3. I currently WANT a PS4, but I’m not yet sure I NEED to trade in my PS3 just yet…
In closing… the future is looking awfully bright for Sony. Nintenwho?
And that essentially ended the conference, but there was one more tiny bit of news…
Or not, that was too quick to grab anything. It looks amazing, it might even look better than Killzone Shadowfall.
Activision shows Bungie’s Destiny and brings more in-engine footage… pictures to come.
Activision CEO Eric Hershberg comes up to talk next…
Blizzard & Sony strategic partnership “to take over the world” and showcase Diablo III on the PS3 and PS4.
4-Player Co-Op full screen, sounds like an interesting way to play.
No money, no problem, hack someone’s ATM account.
Stop a train and jump on, literally!
Amazing, UbiSoft’s Yves Guillemot looks years younger. And he just mentioned Watch_Dogs so it’s time for me to shut up and take pictures for you wonderful people.
Unknown Final Fantasy title with more details later this year.
Let the speculatron 9000 begin!
Shinji Hashimoto, brand director for Final Fantasy comes out for “another announcement”. Exclusive FFXV?
Squeenix on PS4: “In short, it’s a game developers dream.”
Showing a cinematic rather than in-game footage, no picture I could put here would do it justice, another amazing looking piece running off of Square Enix’ Luminous Studios engine.
Time for Yoshisha Hashimoto from Squeenix to show off some things.
Working title “Deep Down” on the new Panta Rhei engine looks amazing, so many things flying on screen at once…
Holy partnerships batman!
Kicking off with Capcom…
Have your own puppet show rock concert… yeah, really.
The Tyranny of the Polygon is countered by Media Molecule’s love of….
The MOVE controller. O_o
Ok, 3d art/sculpting with the Move controller seems interesting…
MM: The PS4 is a place to record your dreams…. uhh what?
Quantic Dream Polygon counts over the years…
And what he claims they can do now, being only limited by our own imagination:
Media Molecule up next.
No more game presentations for now, but ” a glimpse into the future” when you combine PS4 with unbridled creativity and here comes Quantic Dream to kick us off!
Braid developer Jonathan Blow came out to talk about his new game The Witness. Amazing to have an XBLA guy come over.
Infamous Second Son!
Holy shit this looks awesome, pictures do not do it justice!
New Exclusive PS4 title by Sucker Punch looks interesting…….
Another KillZone shot, hanging off of ropes!
Evolution Studios: Drive Club, is this the next Gran Turismo? One thing’s for sure, this will probably be out before the next Gran Turismo, though, as we just learned, this too is 10 years in the making…
Called it, entire PS back library eventually on PS4 via Gaikai.
Killzone 4, aka Killzone ShadowFall looks sweet!
CALLED IT! Entire PS Library will eventually be on the cloud.
This is going to be a VERY developer-friendly system from our latest video presentation.
So awesome, can’t wait for the Let’s Plays.
Much like the Wii U gamepad, there will be remote play between the Vita & PS4 – start a game on PS4, move to vita, and back again when your nuisance of a child is done with the TV.
Ok, I’m blown away. Share button leaked does not just post to youtube, but does live streaming of your game session AND allows you to have a friend assist your gameplay with hints tips or even PLAYING YOUR GAME over the net!
With Gaikai in the PS store you can instantly experience anything you want, try it for free, share it if you like it, and only pay for it if you love it. Interesting…
Also , LiveBlog Catchup, new game known as “Knack” looks very impressive with the particle physics. Really showed the beefiness of the GPU.
Up Next: David Perry, CEO & Co-Founder Gaikai, time to start explaining how we will soon have our PS3 library on the cloud.
Your current real life circle of friends will become your PlayStation circle of friends through the use of real names…. WTF?
The 5 Principles behind the PS4:
Simple: Ease of use / Speed of Response
Immediate: Suspend & Resume Play sessions by hitting power button and picking up where you last left off in a game.
Social: Hardware always on video compression/decompression
Use your smartphone to browse gaming video from others’ PS4 experiences.
LiveBlog Catchup: DualShock 4 & PlayStation Eye
The light bar on the DualShock 4 tracks the controller with the player using the new PlayStation Eye, not quite motion control, not quite Kinect.
PS4 will allow playable games while being downloaded and will download updates to games while the power is off.
Ok, Liveblogging is having a bit of a hiccup, here’s what we’ve missed.
“Yeah Baby, here it is, the PS4!”
Lead System Architect, Crash Bandicoot Developer Mark Cerny
Andrew House opens the event talking about the PS Vita & PlayStation Mobile
6:03: As always, open with a montage.
Connection issues with the blog, so I took notes and here’s how the rest of the show went…
4:37 Need For Speed World has been around for 2 years it seems.
4:43 Up next, Battlefield 3: Armored Kill DLC this fall, and Aftermath in December. Also, in March “End Game”.
4:45 These DLC will also come with A new game mode called Tank Superiority where you play capture the flag with tanks.
4:50 Fantastic looking trailer, very cinematic, voiced well, great lighting effects, please be a new IP… Nope, Medal of Honor Warfighter…
4:52 Linkin Park is going to be doing the soundtrack for Medal of Honor and EA is directing their next music video. No, really…
4:54 Mass Effect 3, More DLC on the way, starting with Leviathan, who is not a reaper, but a mysterious being who is fabled to be able to take down a reaper. Never before seen characters in the ME universe will be introduced, and the trailer looks awesome!
Also going to have a multiplayer firefight pack with two brand new weapons.
4:57 ME3 for the WiiU will contain the interactive comic the PS3 got for ME2, but it will contain both ME2 and ME content.
4:58 Army of Two is back…WHY?!? The new game is called “Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel”. Launching in March 2013, and their first unveiling of the game will be at gamescom later this month.
And that’s how it ends!
Up next, “Need For Speed: World”… an MMORacingGame?
Snow looks fairly realistic, for the game style.

That wraps up Ubisoft’s press conference.
Watch Dogs – connection is power.
Zooms out on the map to reveal numerous player characters overlooking the action. The game is called Watchdogs.
Now it shifts to another user player overwatching the action on the roof and he is ordered to protect Pierce (past hero) at all costs.
Kills Demarco in kind of execution style.
With everyone dead, he moves in on main target.
All about staying in cover – pop up shooting and swift movements from cover to cover.
The player can use a super slow mo mode to shoot at other people. Almost like bullet time.
Your hit target is in a car… triggers the lights to all be green and car crashes. Appoaches car and gets into gun battle.
Security is targeting the main guy… he takes down a guard with some swift moves. Walks outside to the rain… the graphics look great.
Every person in the room can be analyzed and key facts about them are brought up. Phones can be overheard.
The main character is set to kill Demarco, the main guy of the exhibit. The main character has a reputation already… something we don’t know about. He’s using himself as bait.
The player meets with another. Lots of cursing in the dialogue.
The building is a digital art exhibit. Dark and “punky” feel to it.
He activates some kind of disrupter that fries cell phone signals and draws the guard away from the door so the player can sneak in.
The city looks detailed and impressive.
Now in real gameplay, it’s man walking down sidewalk.
No one can hide… this player knows all. He will find you and “expose you to the world.”
Some gameplay now of ctOS.
ctOS is played within a real city. The city is your weapon. Everyone’s info is at your fingertips. Fists and wits are your weapons.

The game looks really fast, similar to counter strike. More futuristic weapons though. They look like plasma guns.
And that third male is Stormy.
It’s a 3 on 3 game, but one team only has one player. His gun is a one shot kill, however. The others take 2 shots to kill.

Scaling a cliff wall to sneak up on the next location.
Swift moves take down the enemies and now chasing down the last person in a foot race… cool aerial kill from a tree branch.
An assault on a fort in underway – secrecy is the key. A rope kill from a tree turns into a pulley system to drop… and the fight is on.
Moving into a small village of people. Gives meat to a villager in exchange for money – reminiscent of more in depth RPG mission.
Now surrounded by wolves, have to fight them off one by one.

WiiU title that’s rated M, survival horror game up next… what could that be?
And that’s it for Rayman: Legends. Some cool new co-op ideas for 2D platformers.
The music is fantastic… matches perfectly with the player’s actions.
A race event on a new map where the person controlling the touchpad sees something different than the players running. It’s almost a rhythm based scheme.
The person controlling the flying character hits Lumes to allow other players to collect different kinds… interesting.
Can play with up to 5 players at a time.
A new playable character is used to fly around in ways that Rayman can not. Each person has their abilities and roles.
Using the touch screen to move around the player on screen.

Next up: Erich Waas from San Diego, from ModNation Racers, an entirely new game for the PS Vita, not a port of the game we already know and love.

A new trailer displays a woman asking some man to choke her to death.
Jack announces a closed beta at the end of the year and a full release in early 2012.

Now, a 3D Demonstration of the “Next” Uncharted…
Did I mention the boat is kind of sideways now? Yeah.
Drake now swims underwater and has to rip open a grate, to get to a part of the boat that hasn’t gone under yet.
The cargo hold is now filling with water and the boat is starting to tilt, Drake is thrust underwater (damn gravity!), and now he has to swim and then climb his way out before the whole boat sinks to the bottom.
Drake makes his way to what looks like a cargo hold, where he’s caught by whoever owns the boat, punches this bald guy, throws a grenade and gets into a firefight with the enemies on board.
Drake is running around on a massive yacht, he stealthily takes out a couple of guards, though, he seems to be walking a bit funny, perhaps he’s injured, not sure.
Oh, and visually: STUNNING. Great lighting & water effects.
