Tales of Monkey Island Episode 3 Screenshots

500x mi103 manatee Tales of Monkey Island Episode 3 Screenshots

Ahoy mateys! We’ve got some screenshots of Tales of Monkey Islands third episode, Lair of the Leviathan. Due to be released on September 29th, here are some details on the third upcoming installment in this five-episode series from Telltale Games:

“In the third Tales of Monkey Island chapter, Guybrush gets in deep (literally!) as his quest for the voodoo exfoliating La Esponja Grande takes a scenic twist — through the guts of a giant manatee!

“Trapped in the belly of the beast, our hero encounters a surprising band of castaways, including the long-lost (and obsessive-compulsive) explorer Coronado De Cava. Can the Mighty Pirate win the suspicious De Cava’s trust?

“Will sexy pirate hunter Morgan LeFlay prove to be a ruthless enemy, or an unlikely ally? Will the group find La Esponja Grande in time to save Elaine from the rampant Pox of LeChuck?

“And will the world be crushed by the gnashing teeth of a certain demonic skull? Tales of Monkey Island’s moist and absorbing third episode, Lair of the Leviathan, will answer some of these urgent questions — and raise still more — as the five month adventure builds to its epic climax!”

Guitar Hero 5 DLC Will Be Incompatible With Guitar Hero: World Tour

GHSH003 618x347 Guitar Hero 5 DLC Will Be Incompatible With Guitar Hero: World Tour

Though Activision has announced that there will be downloadable content shortly after Guitar Hero 5’s release, unfortunately it will not be backwards compatible with Guitar Hero: World Tour. However, the DLC will be compatible with future Guitar Hero and Band Hero games. Previous DLC will be compatible and in the future it’ll be possible to export songs from Guitar Hero: World Tour and Smash Hits in Guitar Hero 5 (the songs will require you to download tracks with Guitar Hero 5’s updated features though).

The new DLC content is said to include band moments, expert+ drumming, and new vocal star power.

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010 Just Got Bigger

biggamehunter Cabelas Big Game Hunter 2010 Just Got Bigger

Today Activision announces that Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010 is set to be released on September 29 for the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 in North America. In Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010, the player strives to be amongst the world’s most admired hunters by using their audacity, technology, and accuracy. By taking the game to the next level, players seek the “Super Hunter” status by obtaining the biggest trophies from the world’s most jagged terrain in order to prove their worthiness and skill to be amongst the high ranks of the hunters. Only by facing dangerous situations such as crossing furious rivers, and climbing high cliffs can the player reach the most prized game. There are new in-game features such as receiving rewards for successfully progressing through missions with the use of cover and a VITALS system which enables the player to envision the perfect killing shot.

Activision Publishing’s David Oxford says, “We are elevating the first person action hunting genre because it’s what fans demand,” and adds, “Skill, extreme danger, real world equipment – you get all of that in Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010, and it all takes place in stunningly rendered outdoor environments packed with animals that look and act like the real thing.”

A Top Shot hunting peripheral comes packaged with the game if you purchase the Wii version, which includes 13 arcade style shooting galleries, also including a 4-person multiplayer.

Bryan Steve of Cabela’s says, “Activision’s dedication to the hunting genre is real and the Cabela’s crowd has responded, year after year. It has been inspiring to work with them on Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2010 – we can’t wait for September!”

Bethesda Sheds Light On the Future Of The Elder Scrolls Series

elder scroll

Remember when we posted that at Quakecon 09, Todd Howards said that Bethesda had no plans for Elder Scrolls V? Well, scratch that. Apparently this was a misinterpretation and Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, Pete Hines, steps in to make the clarifications.

That was not a direct quote from him. That was someone’s interpretation of what he said. I know, I was there. At his QuakeCon talk he was asked when TESV is coming out and Todd replied, “Don’t look for a new Elder Scrolls game in the near future.” He also went on to say how much the franchise means to us and that it definitely will continue. He just wasn’t going to provide any timeframe on “when.” This should not be news to anyone that has been paying attention. Both Todd and I have said repeatedly that, of course, we’re going to do another Elder Scrolls game. The last one was enormously popular. So was the one before that. You get the idea. So do we.

So we can all rest a little easier now, there’s going to be an Elder Scrolls V indefinitely given the success of the Elder Scrolls series as well as the widely popular Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Let the Guild Wars 2 Teasing Begin

Let the Guild Wars 2 Teasing Begin

As we wait patiently in high anticipation for NCSoft’s Aion, we shouldn’t forget about getting ourselves ready for Guild Wars 2 either, NCSoft sure isn’t forgetting either. The hype has begun, the official Guild Wars 2 Twitter is up as well as the official website, which is a image of fire-breathing dragon with smoke lightly rising about its figure. What does this tells us?

Head of ArenaNet Mike O’Brien hints at what news we should expect sometime this week over at the official Guild Wars Wiki,

I want to thank all our fans for their patience as we developed the game to the point where we can start talking about it publically. I know you’ve all been anxiously awaiting this moment. You’ll soon understand how ambitious we’ve been and what we’ve accomplished during these past two years of development. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but from here on out we’ll be able to provide you with more regular updates.

Guild Wars 2 is going to be a huge leap beyond the original. We have the best team in the industry executing at the top of their game, and I’m very proud of what our team has accomplished so far. As I said last week, I’m confident that when you get your first look at what we’ve been working on, you’re going to love what you see. Stay tuned for an exciting week ahead.

O’Brien also stated during communications regarding press appointments at Gamescom, that NCSoft has a big announcement coming soon along with the reveal of Aion 1.5. So what do you guys think about the teaser image on the official website? I couldn’t help but think of the second campaign, Factions, but Guild Wars 2 sounds huge and worth the long wait.

100,000+ Signatures For Starcraft II LAN Petition

starcraft2

If you were one of those lads who enjoyed long hours of Starcraft LAN parties and you’re still pissed about Blizzard stating that Starcraft II will not have LAN support, then you might want to consider signing this online petition. It started when this dreadful news fell on nerd ears and naturally people got pretty wired about it. Online petitions are usually ignored and pointless altogether, but remarkably the petition has hit the 100,000 mark, which is impressive and almost admirable. However, it’s almost certain that Blizzard would just turn the other cheek on this one or perhaps the number would continue to grow.
