Apple introduces the iPad, we’ve got details
We all knew it was coming in some form or another, a huge, decked out version of the iPod touch and iPhone, and here it is. Apple has officially unveiled the iPad, that has all of the features of the iPhone, but can also be used as a laptop. It is said that this will completely bridge the gap between the smartphone and the laptop (unless you have huge fingers and can’t use the keyboard worth a shit).
Anyhow, I really like the idea, but essentially it’s a bigger iPhone. Just more real estate to surf the web, and do all of that. Plus there are other laptops that have accelerometers in them, have touch screens, have a full keyboard, and are small (just not as), so what really sets this apart? That discussion will be for an editorial of another day.
Kotaku has all of the details of the device, and it’s going to cost a pretty penny obviously, especially if you want to add some 3G to that package. You can check those out below this.
Go Apple, you’re innovative. And stuff.
Pricing
WiFi only models are:
$499 – 16GB
$599 – 32GB
$699 – 64 GB
3G models are:
$629 – 16GB
$729 – 32GB
$829 – 64 GB
Online plans are$14.99 for up to 250 MB of data per month or $29.99 for Unlimited data.

iPhone 4G on Verizon?
There are several rumors that the iPhone 4g will be on the Verizon network. The C.E.O of Verizon told Late Night Show host, Charlie Rose, “that it is Apple’s decision.” I have been told from an inside source that they are testing right now to see if Verizon’s soon to be released 4g network can download as fast as they claim. If the iPhone 4g does come out for Verizon this will likely kill AT&T’s sales by at least half because the iPhone is the reason most people choose the AT&T network.

Rumor: NetFlix on the PS3? Netflix wants in, what say you Sony?
Take a look at this image below.
For those of you who prefer to keep your eyesight, it says:
“Imagine that, as an added benefit to DVDs by mail, Netflix offers its members the ability to watch movies and TV episodes instantly on their TV via their Playstation 3, choosing from a library of over 12,000 choices. There are no advertisements or trailers and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward, rewind, and pause or watch again. The movies & TV episodes you watch instantly are included in your Netflix membership for no additional service fee.
To take advantage of this Netflix functionality you will need:
- A Netflix Subscription
- A Netflix Instant Streaming Disc (available for free). This disc must be put into your Playstation 3 whenever you want to instantly watch content from Netflix.
- Your PlayStation 3 must be connected to the internet
If this functionality were available, how likely would you or someone in your household be to get a Netflix Instant Streaming Disc (available for free) in order to instantly watch movies & TV episodes on your TV?”
Given the success Microsoft has had with the Netflix program, I would have to check off “Very likely”.
If the survey above that is circulating the internet is any indication, it appears Netflix wants in on the PlayStation 3, and with the one-year anniversary of Netflix’s appearance on the XBox 360 approaching, it’s entirely possible that the movie and TV rental service is looking to expand out onto other platforms.
One thing that is interesting from this survey, however, is that unlike the 360’s built-in Netflix streaming, the PS3 system would require a “Netflix Instant Streaming Disc” to work, which implies that Netflix would not be integrated directly into the PS3 firmware, but supported as a 3rd party outside application.
There are no concrete details as of yet, so please mark this down as a rumor. If any more information is learned on this story, you’ll read it on Default Prime.

DPrime Review: Crystal Defenders

Crystal Defenders is a Field Runners type game with Final Fantasy characters, enemies, and environments. There are three worlds (as they call it) each with four different stages, but only 2 unique ones, the others are the advanced version of the original level. The advanced versions just include more paths for the enemies to travel and diverge on or more things are blocking your attacks, but on the upside the enemies do spawn with a little less health. You start with twenty crystals and if the enemies get to the end of the path they take one. Every ten waves they send four bosses each with the ability to take 2 crystals instead of 1.
I didn’t do to well on this run but it’s still game play.

The long delayed June Qore released, with free stuff!

Sony’s monthly episodic downloadable “video magazine”, Qore, has gone through a significant delay in the US, many may remember the Europe one came out just prior to E3 showing off the PSPGo, however, that content will not be seen in the North American version, as it was taken out and in its stead, Qore covers inFamous and Fight Night Round 4.
This episode, however also contains a Qore t-shirt for PlayStation Homers to use as well as a free download of the PlayStation 1 classic, Spyro The Dragon.

Monkey Island alive a kicking?
LucasArts announced on June 1st in a press release that TellTale Games (the creators of the somewhat popular new and improved Sam & Max Game Series based of the original adventure game ‘Sam & Max Hit the Road’) are working on ‘Tales of Monkey Island’, another new and improved game based on the original Monkey Island Series.
Set to premier on July 7th, 2009 for PC and WiiWare, Tales of Monkey Island will have a new epic storyline, newer 3D graphics, and like Sam & Max will be released in Episodes (or Chapters, which ever ye’ mates prefer to call it). You can pre-order Tales of Monkey Island by going to TellTale Games website, and to top it, if you pre-order by July 6th, you can get exclusive stuff from TellTale. It’s worth taking a look at!
Now, it doesn’t stop there. In the same Press Release, LucasArts also announced that later this summer (Release date is still TBA) they will publish “The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition” for Xbox Live and PC. This special edition will contain re-masted content such as totally new re-imaged graphics, and a re-mastered Musical Score.
With a new game, and a remastered version of the original game on the way, I think it’s safe to say Monkey Island is alive a kicking!

Weekend Primed: Top 10 Video Game Quotes of all Time
This week, for the “Weekend Primed”, I’m going to step away from the videos, and post up, what I think are the top 10 video game quotes of all time. The only catch is, I’m going to try to stay away from a lot of the overused, and cliche video game quotes that have been used 10 million times. *cough*all your base are belong to us*cough*. So, without further ado:
10) “You can’t hide from the Grim Reaper. Especially when he’s got a gun.” – Manny Calavera, Grim Fandango

Oh Grim Fandango, how much fun you are. Released in 1998 by LucasArts on the PC, Grim Fandango was primarily written by Tim Schafer, and was a sort of action-adventure game. As with a lot of adventure games at the time, there were tons of characters to examine, objects to collect, and puzzles to solve to delve deeper into the game.
The game was praised for it’s artistic design along with the direction the story took. Unfortunately, the game was considered a commercial failure, which ultimately led to the downfall of LucasArt’s adventure-game department.

Toki Tori Promotion Contest
To prepare for upcoming launch of Toki Tori for the iPhone on May 22nd, in conjunction with the celebration of the one year anniversary of the WiiWare game, Chillingo and Two Tribes have created a very unique contest for those interested in participating. What do you have to do you may ask? Well, all you have to do is think of a cool way to promote the upcoming game, and send the info of it to them via the official website.
You can view the official rules and submit your ideas at http://www.tokitori.com/contest. You will be able to show the people at Two Tribes and Chillingo all of your original ways to promote Toki Tori on the iPhone. Need a starter idea? How about a viral youtube video, a cool website designed completely around Toki Tori, maybe someone painting their bodies like the character above, and running around naked through New York telling people to buy the game. Okay, don’t do that.
The contest begins today, and ends on June 26. Both of the production teams, Two Tribes, and Chillingo, will be judging the events and will be picking out the winners. The most creative entry in the contest will win a $200EU iTunes gift card, or Wii Points; a chicken to be adopted in your name, and a cool Toki Tori figurine. The runners up will just recieve the figurine.
So, go enter the contest, create some wicked cool things to pimp Toki Tori, and submit what you have done at http://www.tokitori.com/contest, and just make sure that you get all of what you’ve done to them by June 26.
