BioShock on Wii ‘Not Out of the Sphere of Possibility’
In a recent interview with 2K Marin’s Jordan Thomas, the question arose about the BioShock series hitting the Wii, and surprisingly enough said that the game wouldn’t be out of the question, but seriously now…
“Nothing beyond speculation presently. Anything that’s brought to the Wii tends to need to be purpose built, or fairly fundamentally re-architected. There are few games that use Unreal that made it across to the Wii. It doesn’t mean that it’s out of the sphere of possibility, but it’s not something we considered for BioShock 2.” - 2K Marin’s Jordan Thomas
Is it going to happen?

Interview with the man behind Post Script, Lewis Denby
We have posted a lot of news recently about Lewis Denby’s series of Half-Life 2 mods, Post Script. Well, we emailed the man to see if we could get an interview with him about the game, and lucky for us he did so! In fact, he has that kind of sense of humor that fits perfectly with the site. He also told us that due to personal plans, he is moving the release date forward (there IS a first time for everything!), from it’s Dec. 18th to Dec. 16th. Not a huge change, but definitely worth noting. Thanks again Lewis for the interview, and I wish him best of luck with the game and I can’t wait to play it!
So without further ado, the interview:
Artsy-bollocks pretentiousness in mod form, probably. It’s an “interactive narrative,” as I’m terming it, split into five short episodes to be released over the next however many months it takes me. It’s about the end of the world, and how that came to be. It’s about the people who were around when it happened. It’s mainly about exploring an environment, though there are a few light puzzles thrown in along the way.
Lots of things! Most obviously, this is a P.S. — in our timeline, the world has already ended, and we’re looking back to before it to find out what happened. So it literally takes place after anything, so the whole thing’s a bit of a post-scriptum. PostScript is also a programming language, and the idea of virtually constructing something comes into play later on. It’s also actually a line in the script itself. And a more personal reason that I may or may not have just made up now: I didn’t start making the game itself until I’d written the words, so it came into existence quite literally post script.

Cliffy B. – Microsoft going after Wii Fit market
With a recent interview, Cliffy B. has informed the people of the interwebs that Microsoft is going after the Wii Fit market. Wait..really Cliffy? Is that was Microsoft was doing with Natal, or what Sony is doing with their…wand? Here’s a snippet of the interview:
“Microsoft is very smart to go after this kind of, Wii Fit-type market. I mean, my Mom this Christmas asked for a Wii and a Wii Fit. She doesn’t play games at all and I’m like ‘Damn you Nintendo!’ But that’s cool, right? That she’s playing games she wouldn’t normally have played.” – Cliffy B.
The only problem that I see with this is that Nintendo has got such a firm grip on the market, they have already got the whole motion control market cornered. Not that Natal of Sony’s wand can’t sell, but it’s the same deal with the Zune and the iPod. Copying an idea won’t necessarily sell units. Granted, they both have their own little features that make them unique, but will it really matter when it comes down to it?

Konami Unveils Q&A Session with Hideo Kojima about MGS5
Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today revealed a Q&A session with legendary video game creator and head of Kojima Productions, Hideo Kojima. The interview answers many questions from the man behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise about the 5th game, as well as some of the features that are being implemented into the new game.
1) I bet many users had expected the next MGS5 announcement. When did you start this project?
I actually had the plan for this project in mind while working on MPO. Back then, I intended to place the project in the hands of the next generation of creators at Kojima Productions. However, in the end, I felt that it was still a little too early to leave it completely in their hands, so I decided to take the reins.
This game is an MGS5-class game. I am supervising, designing, producing, directing, and editing this title together with the MGS4 team. Therefore in that sense, “METAL GEAR SOLID” has not ended, and the “METAL GEAR SAGA” continues.
2) You have been telling for many years that your ultimate theme is “Anti-war and Anti-nuclear weapon”. Does this theme continue in this title?
Absolutely. The METAL GEAR SOLID series has always featured “Anti-war” and “Anti-nuke” themes. This title is no exception.
In the event of an attack from a neighboring country, I believe that finding a solution through diplomacy is ideal. However, the fact is that even peaceful countries with no intention of retaliating still maintain armies just for the sake of deterrence. I am sure there are varied opinions regarding this subject, but I believe that it is our generation’s role to “create peace through discussion.” What makes things complicated is that the youth of today have been born into a world where the current situation is the norm, so it’s difficult to convey this message. That is why my hope is to have players ponder and learn about why there are people who advocate the “need for armies, military power, and nuclear weapons” so that they may realize “why things turned out the way that they did” while they play this game.

Once you go Black…
The new stunning black Wii is supposed to be hitting markets in the near future. The color black is the only color that Nintendo have decided to change the bland white Wii into. I am quite happy that they have decided to make the newer Wii black, just looking at the design with black stuns me and makes me want to trade in my Wii for it. No real details have been released about this new Wii.

Nintendo Has No Plans To Release Wii HD For Now

Analysts have been predicting that a HD enabled Wii has been on the horizon for quite some time, but Satoru Iwata says differently…
“…as far as the Wii is concerned, we have not found a significant reason to make it HD-compatible at this time.”
He did reconfirm Nintendo’s intentions to make their next console HD enabled. While a Wii HD isn’t completely out the window, it looks like Nintendo fans are going to have to wait quite some time for a HD enabled console from Nintendo. I personally don’t mind the lack of HD 480p is enough for me, but I’m sure lots of people are definitely want to see their favorite franchises in HD.

Microsoft: Wii Wasn’t Main Inspiration For Natal
When Microsoft unveiled their project Natal at E3 this year, I think it’s safe to say what everything thought the inspiration behind the technology was. Well, John Schappert, boss of Live and services, when asked if inspiration might have possibly come from the Wii, replied with something else.
“I’d say Natal is more of a response to breaking down barriers and introducing entertainment for everyone. What we realise is as much as we continue to make [Xbox] more accessible – and I think it’s far more accessible, and an easier-to-use system than ever before, with more functionality than ever before – there still is going to be that challenge of having people to get over the 10-button controller, and feel uncomfortable to navigate the user interface when you play games,” he detailed.
“What Natal is, is a way of breaking down those barriers, making Xbox 360 accessible to everyone, and introducing the world to controller-free gaming,” Schappert added.
So the Wii controler and use of motion control wasn’t the main source of inspiration for Microsoft’s Natal. Does that mean that Microsoft would have created the motion-sensitive controller if Nintendo never came out with the Wii, or the functions that it has? Also, would Microsoft would have even created Project Natal if Nintendo was trailing in third in the console wars? Probably, because Microsoft is thinking of ways to “break down those barriers, and make the 360 accessible to everyone”. Well, I don’t know about that….

WTF: StarFox, Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2 crammed together
Oh Gary’s mod, how we love you so. You have given us some of the best video game videos that YouTube has to offer, and this is one of them. While watching this video, you will be confused, disoriented, and think you did some acid before coming home from work. I’m sorry this had to be posted.

Animal Crossing: City Folk Afterthoughts

Animal Crossing: City Folk, it’s out for the Wii, and people say that the game is more of the same. With the inclusion of the city, a couple new items, and some features here and there, it’s the same as Wild World. 1UP did an interview with Rich Amtower and Reiko Ninomiya about the game, and the afterthoughts of the game.
1UP: Tom Nook: Why is he a jerk?
RA: You think he’s a jerk? That’s too bad. He’s actually quite nice. He’s like that first boss you ever had when you worked your first job in high school or wherever… He’s all about business, first and foremost, and if he doesn’t always spare the time for pleasantries, that doesn’t mean he’s a bad person. He’s just got a lot on his plate. Remember, he’s hiring you, a fresh face in town without even a résumé. He’s taking a big risk, and this alone should tell you a lot about his generous nature.
RN: Just like in a real town, there are many different personalities represented in the community. You won’t necessarily like everyone in your town, but that’s life, isn’t it?
