Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge announced, hitting this summer

MI2 logo Domestic copy jpg jpgcopy 585x415 Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChucks Revenge announced, hitting this summerYup, like was being speculated last weekend, LucasArts has just announced that they’re going to be releasing a special edition of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, which will be coming out on the 360, PC, PS3, and Apple App Store.

Like the last game, this one’s going to have a remastered score, hi-def graphics, full voice over, and the hint system all return. Players will also get to choose whether they want to directly control Guybrush, or use the ol’ point-and-click style of navigation. There’s also commentary from the makers of the original game, which will prove to tell us some interesting information and will allow us to the good ol’ memories of yesteryear.

“The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition really resonated with gamers young and old thanks to its classic storyline and updated gameplay features,” said LucasArts’ President Darrell Rodriguez. “We’re adding even more great new features in this sequel and can’t wait for classic Monkey Island fans and newcomers alike to experience perhaps the most beloved installment in the franchise ever.”

Get prepared for all of the goodness of this special edition this summer. In the mean time, check out some screenshots of the new game, as well as some comparison shots between the original game.

Reggie doesn’t believe Apple’s a threat

dsi vs iphone full Reggie doesnt believe Apples a threatIn an interview with Forbes, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime reiterates many things, one of those being that Apple in the mobile sector is no problem with them at all, because they’re just no competition!

There’s been no data to suggest an encroachment on our business. The iPhone has been out on the marketplace for just a couple of years. In the last two years we’ve set two records on our DS business, last year selling over 11.2 million units. So there’s been no evidence that we’ve lost any business to that competitor.

Yeah we’re gonna have to agree with that. The iPhone and iPod touch are out there for the quickie games, that provide you entertainment for short little bursts. While it has the capacity to do “real” and longer games, that’s just not the audience that it caters do. This is why Apple is of now real competition to the DS line.

Rumor: Is that a special edition of Monkey Island 2 I smell?

Monkey Island monkey island 530473 640 400 585x365 Rumor: Is that a special edition of Monkey Island 2 I smell? The Monkey Island special edition that Lucasarts did was pretty damn awesome. People loved it, it sold a good amount, and now Kotaku is feeding us rumors of Lucasarts doing a special edition of Monkey Island 2. They say that the game might be announced at GDC, it will be completely redone with graphics and audio like it’s predecessor, and might even come out on PlayStation Network, which the first one didn’t.

Above we’ve got the launch video for the game as well as some screenshots below. I’d be sure to check the game out, it sounds like the controls really work well with the system and I mean you can’t really beat two of the best retro RPG’s ever.

Just remember guys, the password is “Wild Rose”. Remember it well.

Street Fighter IV Coming to iPhone; I really wish it was April Fool’s Day…

img 1302 Street Fighter IV Coming to iPhone; I really wish it was April Fools Day...

Yeah, we were thinking that April Fool’s was coming super early this year, it hasn’t, which means that this is real which is just not right.

Well, Capcom has officially announced that Street Fighter IV will be hitting the iPhone and iPod Touch this March. I know what you’re thinking! What about the controls. Well how about a virtual d-pad on the screen as well as virtual buttons? No? Oh.

“This is Street Fighter IV in all its glory… uncompromised and awesome,” said Takeshi Tezuka, General Manager of Mobile Content Development, Capcom. “We’re particularly proud of the multiplayer feature as it remains true to the series arcade roots by allowing players to go head-to-head over Bluetooth in spectacular fashion.”

So I really don’t know how the fuck they think they’re gonna be able to pull this off, especially when the game is about precision and the buttons being the most important part in that. I mean a touch screen can work for some things, but when it comes to something like a fighter like Street Fighter IV, I just don’t see it working. At all.

Good luck Capcom.

Motivational Picture of the Day: The iPad is Clearly the Future

ipad motivational Motivational Picture of the Day: The iPad is Clearly the FutureWhen we first heard about the announcement about the Apple iPad, there was a hint of skepticism in our voices (or text) when we were talking about it. Well to accommodate that, we decided to sum-up our feelings about the new device in the form of a motivational poster. Because that’s just how we roll.

Use your iPhone to throw papers the classic way

Paperboy2 585x365 Use your iPhone to throw papers the classic wayYes! You can now use your iPhone or iPod touch to throw papers to people that otherwise wouldn’t be able to get the paper. Elite Systems has just announced that they will be re-vamping and re-releasing their 80’s arcade game classic Paperboy for the systems.

About the release Elite’s Steve Wilcox said:

“’Paperboy Classic’ is a lighter version of Paperboy and an almost 100% faithful recreation of the multi-million selling original. It features:

Exciting new game modes including, Time Attack, Challenge & Casual and is uniquely developed in 2.5D enabling:

*authentic Classic 2.5D in-game views,
*stunning new, 2.5D action-replays,
*subtle enhancement of the in-game graphics.

Created specifically for Elite, developers and publishers Paperboy for more than 20 years.

‘Paperboy Classic’ does not include 3D in-game views and 3D action-replays or multiple camera angles. For these additional features search the App Store for and choose Paperboy”.

The game looks cool and although I like Paperboy on the iPod Touch, I would really like to get that classic, nostalgic feel of Paperboy Classic (because I’m 16 and totally lived during the time when it originally came out).

Sony happy about the iPad, unfortunately people aren’t coming to the PSP

pspgo 585x301 Sony happy about the iPad, unfortunately people arent coming to the PSPYesterday, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata wasn’t really stoked on Apple’s recent announcement of the iPad saying that “It was a bigger iPod Touch”, Iwata told Associated Press, adding that the new device offered “no surprises”. I can’t help but agree.

Well, Sony has come out and expressed a lot of optimism and happiness about the device.

“Apple’s entrance into the portable gaming space has been a net positive for Sony,” Sony’s John Koller, Director Hardware Marketing, told the Wall Street Journal. “When people want a deeper, richer console, they start playing on a PSP.”

The only problem is…well, nobody is really coming to the PSP for a deeper, richer console there Sony. You were pretty close, but I think you meant to say the DS or possibly just not moving from the iPhone or Touch to begin with.

Nice try though.

Final Fantasy I and II get spruced up for the iPhone

Final Fantasy I and II have already be remade for almost every single thing that can play a game…nevermind, I guess that’s Tetris. Anyhow, Square Enix has decided to spruce up the first two Final Fantasy games to be released on the iPhone and iPod Touch. Of course there will be the optimized controls for the touch screen, additional dungeons not released previously, and extra content once you finish the game.

Well damn, sounds like a lot for the games. No release date yet or price, but this is a must have for iPhone owners. Seriously, you have to have this.
