Microsoft says that the 360 doesn’t need blu-ray, but we already knew that
Microsoft knows what the hell’s up when it comes to hi-definition and consoles, and red rings, and stuff like that. Speaking to CVG, Stephen McGill, the director of Xbox and Entertainment had some interesting information about the future of blu-ray and the 360.
“We have no plans to adopt [a] Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360. In fact, the future of home entertainment started last autumn when Xbox 360 became the first and only console to offer instant-on 1080p streaming HD movies.”
It makes sense. I mean blu-ray is the past, streaming HD movies on a video game console is the hear and now. Oh wait…yeah, what the fuck? Maybe in the Xbox 720 or whatever their next console is, but it is definitely surprising to hear that they have no plans of blu-ray on the 360. Oh well I guess, I don’t think that multi-layered discs could help at all..right?

People are really taking advantage of how awesome Bad Company 2 is
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is out, and people are all over the online doing this and that, ranting and raving about how good the game is (oh wait, are those servers up yet?). Well here are two videos of people taking advantage of explosives, and using them to thwart the other their own team. I say it’s only a matter of time before buildings are flying through the air because of explosives.

New Fallout 3: New Vegas screens; this game just keeps on getting better, and better
Yup, GamesThirst is providing us with a whole plethora of new screenshots for Fallout 3: New Vegas, and as is to be expected, the game looks a lot like it’s predecessor. A lot of it is recycled graphics, but honestly I can put that all aside because of one simple fact: It’s mother-fucking Fallout 3: New Vegas.
The game is coming out this fall, and the hype machine is starting to work, as people are claiming it to be either number 1 or number 2 for their game of the year in 2010. I’m gonna have to lend my helping hand in the hype, as I’m saying it’s number 1 on my list.

Now that’s a cupcake I’d play my games with
Cupcakes are delicious, as I’m sure everybody knows. Well now that the can’t get more delicious, people have to step up their cupcake design game, and this one definitely “takes the cake”, if you know what I mean.
This one was found on clevercupcakes’ flickr page, and created by Cupcakes Take the Cake which, after looking at all of those cupcakes, I’m drooling all over my laptop. I blame Microsoft.

Valve Officially Confirms Portal 2; It’s coming to the 360 and PC
Through the cover of GameInformer, which you can see above, Valve has officially confirmed that Portal 2 is real. GameInformer has told us that the game is a “full-fledged, standalone sequel”, and it has “gameplay mechanics, storyline, and some surprising new twists.” Sounds way, way too awesome.
Not only that, but Valve’s own Doug Lombardi told EuroGamer that the game will be hitting the PC and 360, and will be coming this holiday season.
I don’t know about you guys, but since 2007, it’s been a long wait for a Portal 2, and after playing through the game countless times and doing all of the challenge puzzles, I’m ready for more. Do you guys think that a sequel can top the original?

Rumor: Is that a special edition of Monkey Island 2 I smell?
The Monkey Island special edition that Lucasarts did was pretty damn awesome. People loved it, it sold a good amount, and now Kotaku is feeding us rumors of Lucasarts doing a special edition of Monkey Island 2. They say that the game might be announced at GDC, it will be completely redone with graphics and audio like it’s predecessor, and might even come out on PlayStation Network, which the first one didn’t.

Go Figure: Take-Two says they will “continue to support the title with more add-on content”
Gearbox has more than a terrific job at supporting their hit game Borderlands with DLC and add-on content. Well Take-Two CEO Ben Feder has announced some un-surprising information about future DLC for the game. Yippers.
“Borderlands continues to build on its success in the market,” Feder said during the quarterly financial call [Thanks, Kotaku] The Secret Armory of General Knoxx was the “highest scoring in the series.”
“We will continue to support the title with more add-on content.”
It’s good to hear that the General Knoxx pack did so great, and I’ve dug all of the DLC so far for the game and am stoked to see what they plan on doing. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what they plan on doing with the new content.

I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1 sells 200k copies
Ska Studios is having a pretty big day today, as their hit indie dual-stick shooter I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1N IT!!!1 has now officially sold over 200,000 copies on Xbox Live.
Really though? I mean I bought the game as soon as I got a 360. It was only $1, and I’ve had endless, endless fun with it. I mean are there any other dual-stick shooters out there with disco lights, spotlights, loud obtrusive singing that says “I made a game with zombies in it”, tons of guns (including the worthless machine gun and laser gun), flamethrowers, and the list could go on.
Needless to say, this game needs to sell more, a lot more. So to help them celebrate, why don’t all of you that are too greedy to buy a badass game such as this, and drop the $1 and get it.
Oh, and they’re giving away prizes via Twitter!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is out: Here’s the launch trailer and TV Spot
Battlefield: Bad Company has finally come out today, and people are rushing (or they better) to the stores picking the game off the shelves like it’s [insert simile or analogy here]. What does that mean? Well the whole TV spot and launch trailer was just an excuse to make another article about the game, but above you can see the launch trailer and below the TV spot. As always, there’s tons of explosions, review scores, blood, rockets, so on, and so forth.
Also if you get the game and register the game at http://veteran.battlefield.com and pick up the M1 Rifle for pretty much nothing. Also remember you can pick up the DLC pack numeral uno for free, with the Nelson Bay (Rush) and Laguna Alta (Conquest) maps included.
Can anyone say #1 spot for the UK sales at the end of this week?

BioShock Arcadia level demade for Doom II from lead level designer of game
I’m sure by now all of you have already played through BioShock 2 and experienced the beauty that is Rapture. I’m also assuming that if you’ve been gaming long enough, that you’ve probably beaten or at least played Doom II. Or at lest, you should have.
Anyhow, the lead level designer for BioShock 2, JP LeBreton, has taken the time to “demake” the arcadia level in the game to play with Doom II. The level is up to download for free on his personal website. But wait, that’s not all!
He also posted up in the notes section of the arcadia level all about the process of demaking the level from BioShock to Doom, definitely a good read (if you can put in the effort to do so). Just remember: more blues and greens.
