Rumor: Leaked ‘Tech Demo” Footage of Final Fantasy: Fortress

Swedish game development studio GRIN was said to be working on a Final Fantasy project, dubbed “Fortress” before they were closed down. Well now we’ve got a still rumored tech demo of the game.

The action is all action-oriented, and in between parts of the video there is some concept art from the game. Also check out the video around 1:17, is that a Chocobo I see?

The video was found on YouTube first (go figure), and the uploader of it whose name is William Mark Felt said:

“[The game is] set some time after the events of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings,” and is meant for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. “The project has not been officially announced yet, but its existence is known due to information leaked by former members of the development team and sources in the video game industry.”

“The Fortress project is still supported by Square Enix and in development at a currently undisclosed studio – possibly Eidos Montreal, Square Enix’s main Western branch,” he said.

We can definitely tell that the game has a more western feel to it. He never gave out any sources for where he got this or the information, but hopefully we can get some more information from Square Enix because the game looks pretty badass and I would be excited to see that is’s still in development.

Could Spotify be coming to Consoles?

It looks like a new rumor is floating around! It’s coming from Baxy-z and is telling how the popular music streaming service, Spotify, could be coming to next generation consoles. Here’s what’s told about it:

“Since Spotify has really propelled into the industry and successfully launched on all sorts of platforms, I thought it’d be best to let you know that we have something in the works for the next gen consoles”, said the tipster. “We’ve been working on it for some time now and we can’t wait to reveal it to you guys!”

Now don’t get confused here, the “next gen consoles” refers to that of the 360, PS3, and Wii. This is just a rumor though, so no word yet from an official person from Spotify but if indeed the service did come to consoles I would see it being a tremendous hit but definitely being competition to that of Last.fm.

Rumor: Fallout MMO leaked screens

These screens are supposedly from an inside source who is close to Interplay. The screens were meant to be used for the court case in defense against Bethesda confirming that they were indeed working on a Fual Out MMO. Who knows if the game will ever see the light of day, but for now we can look at the screens below. A s you can see it’s just like Fall out 3, complete with lots of brown.

Rumor: F.E.A.R. 3 and Scribblenauts 2 set for 2010

Apparently Warner Brothers accidentally released a list of their 2010 releases. While most of it was shovel ware and licensed software two notable games on nthe list, F.E.A.R. 3 and Scribblenauts 2, were listed. The interesting thing about Scribblenauts 2 is that it was not only listed for Nintendo DS but Wii and PC as well. If it is real we don’t know if 5th Cell, the developer of the original, will be working on it or not. Last we heard 5th cell was moving to development on the consoles, specifically an XBLA title. We will just have to wait and see. If they are 2010 releases it can’t be too terribly long before we see an announcement.

Rumor: Dead Space 2 to have online multiplayer

A job listing for Electronic Arts has revealed that Dead Space 2 may have multiplayer. The opening is for a Senior Online Level Designer which requires them to “be able to work collaboratively with Creative Director and Online Producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels.” That seems like a confirmation that their at least thinking about it. I just really hope this isn’t just tacked on though. Hopefully they will take a look at what Uncharted 2 did to implement it’s unique features to the multiplayer.

Rumor: Alan Wake to see a May 2010 release

MCV supposedly has been told by a inside source that Alan Wake’s development will be coming to a close mid next year when the title will be release internationally during late May. Alan Wake has remained underground for the most part since it’s announcement minus a onstage demo back during E3 2009. MCV has been pumping out quite a few rumors recently, but I have no idea how credible they are so I’d take this with a  grain of salt.

Medal of Honor series on its way back…in modern form?

During a conference call EA’s Frank Gibeau confirmed that Medal of Honor is on it’s way back. The company plans on rejuvenating the series like they have done recently with the Need for Speed series. Along with this confirmation he also says that other “core IPs” from EA will be undergoing a similar change.

Flip to a little while later and MCV claims a insider source has tipped them off on the setting for the next Medal of Honor game. The source says “it’s a new take on the modern warfare idea – and will really help give the series the kick up the arse it needs.” I really hope that it has a twist because the last thing we need is another modern FPS trying to scavenge up what little market share the Call of Duty series has left for modern shooters.

Rumored Natal Launch details

A supposed behind closed doors tour of Microsoft UK revealed details of Microsofts upcoming Natal. You can check out the rumored details below.

• Launching November 2010 world wide
• 5million Natal units will be prepared for launch
• Microsoft shooting for a price point below $80
• Some reports said it could go as low as $50
• 14 games are scheduled to be available at launch

If this information is true, there is still a good chance much of this will change considering the launch is still a year away. It is nice to see that Microsoft plans on launching the game will a large library support though. Sony’s motion controller on the other hand has just a handful of titles, one of which is a remake of a title already available.

Activision Trademarks “Drum Hero”

Right off the bat after DJ hero’s release Activison trade marked another possible single instrument title in the future. The trademark listed “Drum Hero”. This doesn’t confirm the title is in development but it shows that Activision is interested in protecting the name just in case.  I think the Actvision is going too far with milking their franchises and Actvision is a business and that’s a business’s main goal.

Possible Final Fantasy XIII Box art Revealed?

It looks like we’ve got a solid contender in what would be a possible Final Fantasy XIII boxart. The boxart comes from Play-Asia, and while marked as a “preliminary picture” looks pretty official and legit to us. Not only is the box art an interesting part but it is also sporting a “T” rating, and not the “RP” that we’ve been seeing on websites and boxes thusfar. So I guess we’re just going to have to be taking this as a rumor right now, but coming from a large online reatailer such as Play-Asia, I wouldn’t doubt that it’s the real deal.
