It’s been confirmed that Default Prime supports the church of Satan

Yup, after seeing that Default Prime has acquired 666 subscribers to our RSS feed, it has been confirmed that Default Prime is a supporter of the Church of Satan. Yes, it is clear that this is what it means.

What do we have to do? Revolt. We must keep subscribing to Default Prime, constantly, getting it away from the deadly 666, and raising it to…766? Yeah, lets do it.

Remember, only you can prevent forest fires the Church of Satan.

Default Prime with a facelift

That’s how I feel about the website, except we’re awesome so that’s not exactly how it is.

What is however, is the new theme that I have put up on the website. I’ve been thinking about revamping the site for awhile, and I found the old theme rather clunky, slow, and kind of a mess sometimes. So here we are.

There’s now a bigger more beautiful logo, some cool little navigation, and it’s all in a very readable style. It’s a modification of an Elegant Themes template, so thanks to them for not making me do more work than I have to!

I will be updating the template constantly throughout the week though, I plan on changing the typograhy, adding four widgetized areas in the footer, and maybe something else here and there. But here we are. Updates man, updates.

Also, did you know that since October 1st Default Prime has been around, and it’s December 20th which makes it over a year. Whoopy-doo. We haven’t done bad for a first year site, some nice organic traffic coming in, excellent authors (Mike and Oculin!), and even more sarcastic and bad-ass since we started.

In conclusion, this post that was originally going to be two or three sentences has been drug out forever, so now I am going to end it. Long live DPrime!

Default Prime is officially 2 steps above awesome!

In case you haven’t been checking out my twitter, about me keeping you updated on all of the Default Prime rankings and improvements and shit. Well, besides hitting over 350 subscribers via Feedburner on the site, we have now reached 481 technorati Authority, which has put us, Default Prime, in the top 100 gaming blogs in the world (or so we’d like to think). What does this mean? We are awesome and that everybody must love us. Of course, because there’s no other explanation obviously. Actually, it’s probably due to the fact that Kotaku linked to us and we received a cluster-fuck of traffic that our bandwidth loved, but I loved it because it brought in exactly $.33. Lovely.

What else does this mean? I’m currently working on an inceredibly sexy redesign for the site, but I’ve been working on that for a while but we can pretend that it was because of this. We don’t know how long it will stay up but we’re hopin for a while. Thanks everybody for reading and checking out the site and lovin’ the over-use of sarcasm, smart-assery, and cuntery.

Default Prime is HUGE! 100 Subscribers, Stats, and More

Well, we’re not huge, but it is an accomplishment of sorts. So here’s the low-down, last Sunday, we were at a staggering 22 subscribers, at this time of writing, as you can see in the little Feedburner Chicklet in the sidebar, we are at 104 subscribers. That means, in a little over a week, we jumped an amazing 82 subscribers. I guess that this isn’t really big news as it’s not that many people, but for only being around this long, and in one week, that’s not bad.

May/June 09′ Game of the Month: Plants vs. Zombies

Well, since I started this whole “commenting for prizes and with incentives” thing, I kind of realized that I started in the middle of the month. Well, so the game of the month will be Plants vs. Zombies, but it will be from the end of this month, until the end of June (next month).

If you’ve read my twitter lately, or read the site and kept up with my Plants vs. Zombies impressions, you’ll know how infinitely badass Plants vs. Zombies is, and how much fun it is. I will be delivering the game via Steam for the PC, so if you’re interesting in snagging yourself a free $19.99 game without cost, all you’ve got to do is comment on some stories, and I will keep track. The person with the most comments in this time period will win it!

Calling all Lurkers!

Okay, so I’ve come to a predicament in my blogging journey with Default Prime. I can get the posts up, break some stories, review the games, and get the traffic. As of now, I’m averaging about 1,500 unique hits/day – but I just can’t get the comments…

So what I’ve come up with, is an incentive for commentors, and here’s what those are:

If you are one of the top 5 commentors each month, you will get:

• Your blog linked to on an individual post, as well as a mention of your username, and a little description of your blog. That is, you’re link will be reaching about 60,000 people each month, on a page rank 3 website.

If you are the top commenter for the month, there is even more of an incentive for you:

• Everything posted above will happen, as well:
• We will write a post about your blog with a link. That means you’re getting linked to on a Page Rank 3 website reaching about 60,000 page views/month
• You will win the video game of the month – and if it’s a multi-console release, you’ll get to pick which system you’ll get it on
• You will get listed in the member of the month on the sidebar (I’m going to add that soon), and it will have your avatar, and a link to your website along with a username.

That’s about it for the incentives. I mean, I’m trying to spur up conversation here, and encourage a community to join and continue to comment hopefully without the incentives. Server Maintenance – Sorry.

I guess I could somewhat loosen the tension on things by posting this little lolcatz image, but things got fucked up, and fast. Okay, so here’s what happened.

I install a cache plugin for WordPress because we’ve been getting substantially more hits than usual, and I tweaked it a little bit, and everything works. Okay, I leave my computer, come back literally 10 minutes later, I no longer have my themes, plugins, or admin directory, and things are missing from my defaultprime “area” on the server.

So, I had to re-install WordPress, I didn’t make a back-up lately with all of the plugins like related posts and shit, I also don’t have a really recent theme with all of the featured posts and cool shit like that, so I’ve got to get all of those up by tomorrow, or this weekend.

I’m sorry. I have no idea what the hell got fucked up. Oh, and the uploads directory got deleted in this fucking frenzy too, so no more images on the server. Got to go through all of my latest backup and see what I can find for images. The worst part about this was, I was going to make a back-up of everything yesterday, but decided I was too lazy to do it.

In short, I’m sorry that all of this is happening, and hopefully we can get everything up and running by the end of this weekend.

New DPrime Author!

As you may have noticed in the past couple of days, I have a new author and editor for Default Prime. Well, this is Daft Monk. He is an administrator, and as of now, the lead author on Golden Sun Complete. He will be helping me out by posting a couple stories every day, and I’m still teaching him the ropes of everything in the blog-o-cube so please accept him with open arms. Also, thanks a lot Daft Monk for helping all of us out!

Screw You Windows Vista…Screw You!

Yeah, welcome home from school you son of a bitch! I hope you enjoy this fucking problem. Yes, I turned on my computer, all happy, logged in, and after everything was loaded, I was greated with my cursor, and a black screen. Well fuck! This really….really did not make me happy. I have a major paper due in school, and more importantly than that, I have to update this site for you guys, because that’s how much I love you.

Well, I kind of fixed the problem…not really. I opened up task manager, created a new task, and opened up explorer.exe. This brought up everything, from background to icons. I ran a virus scan, a chkdsk scan, and much more. Well, after doing all of the tedious tasks, I checked out some websites and figured out that pretty much the only way (and by this I mean easiest), was to backup my 200 out of 360GB’s of items, then re-install Vista. Well, this is also a Vista-specific problem, so I’m positive I’ll either be installing XP Pro advanced awesome….yeah.

So yeah, if I don’t get a lot of posts in today and the next, blame Microsoft and shit-awful operating system, while I spend hours doing shit that I don’t want to.
