Final Fantasy XIII Fastest selling title in the franchise history in the UK
Yup, Square Enix has announced that their latest installment in the series, Final Fantasy XIII, is the fastest selling title in the franchise history in the UK. The game has already shipped more than 5 million units, and is topping UK charts and rockin’ the reviews (actually that’s not so good).
Either way, they’re pretty stoked about it. We’re pretty indifferent seeing as how it’s…yeah, is what it is.

Xbox 360 to be get support for USB mass-storage
It looks like the Xbox 360 will finally be getting support for USB mass-storage devices in a future update. As most of you already know this would allow you to save XBLA games on there, On-Demand games, updates, saves, the whole she-bang.
The document that confirmed this was acquired by Joystiq, and they claim to have it being confirmed by two other sources, so we’re going to place our bets on this coming true.
Here’s a snippet of a quote from a software development engineer at Microsoft:
“increased market penetration of high-capacity, high throughput USB mass storage devices, a 2010 Xbox 360 system update”
Convincing, no? They may have taken a hell of a long time getting this out there for people, but at least it’s coming (I mean the Wii fucking beat them to it). Click the Joystiq link to see more details and pictures.

Here’s some Battlefield: Bad Company 2 stats since the game has been released
Yup, Bad Company 2 is out there and not doing too shabby. I’ve played the game, and totally love it. In my mind the whole experience blows Modern Warfare 2 away. EA has announced that the game has sold more than 2.3 million units, and is on track on being the high seller for this month (unless Just Dance makes a comeback). Along with that, they’ve given us some information concerning the game and….Twitter fans.
•81B points have been earned in online multiplayer sessions
• 43M weapons and gadgets have been unlocked in online multiplayer
• Over 6M video views on YouTube
• 2.9M hours have been spent playing online in the last 24 hours alone
• 230K peak-concurrent-users (PCUs)
• Over 44k Twitter fans (most out of any EA title)
“We are so thrilled with the success of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 sales and fan response. In the first 48 hours we had such a tremendous rush to multiplayer gameplay that our servers experienced overwhelming demand. This is a testament to the massive response players have had worldwide for the extraordinary action experienced in the Battlefield sandbox,” says Karl Magnus Troedsson, Executive Producer, Battlefield Franchise. “DICE and EA have brought more servers online. We now have enough capacity to handle all BFBC2 connections seamlessly and we continue to monitor online play daily.”
The game is doing very well, and I’m glad to see that because it more than deserves that. I’d recommend the game to anyone whether or not you’re looking for something top Modern Warfare 2, it’s a great experience to be had.

Skate 3 riding up to your console on May 11th
It looks like we’ve finally (cause we’ve been waiting so long) got a release date for Skate 3. The game will be hitting North America on May 11th and worldwide on May 14th, 2010. I’m not gonna hate on the game though, given that the only competitor is the Tony Hawk franchise (which we all know is going down the shitter).
“Since the very beginning of the Skate franchise, we have captured the true essence of skateboarding, be it from the feel of nailing that perfect trick, to the feeling of just hanging out and sessioning with your friends,” said Jason DeLong, Senior Producer. “For us, SKATE 3 is the culmination of this endeavor – the most connected, accessible and social skateboarding experience yet.”
The roster of the game packs all the heavy hitters and most of my favorite skaters including Cardiel, Dyrdek, Haslam, and Appleyard. Click the “read more” to see the rest of the list.

We’re lighting up some brand new Alan Wake screens
Yep, some more screenshots have hit the shores of the interwebs (excuse the pun in the title), of the game being in development almost as long as Duke Nukem: Forever…Alan Wake. We’ve got some flashlights, wooden horses, environments, bartering, and cars. All of the excitement with none of the exploration of other games.

Get a little taste of Crackdown 2 multiplayer with the new “Fun With Friends” documentary
First we got a Crackdown 2’s release date (read: July 6, 10′), but we’ve got to get a little more information about the game. Well Microsoft and Ruffian games are here to help us out, with the first in a three-part documentary series.
The first video in the series (view: above), is the “Fun With Friends” documentary. It has Senior Engineer David Hynd and Senior Mission Designer Dean Smith talking it up about the multiplayer in the game that boasts 16 player against each other, and 4 player co-op. There’s really no better way to blow the shit out of a town than with your friends (or blow the shit out of each other).

Epic shows Unreal Game Engine Upgrades…Gears of War 3 anybody?
Up in the GDC, Epic was all over the place. One of their major announcements was their updates to the unreal engine, and it looks fucking gorgeous. Above is a Gears of War 3 tech demo of the upgrades. If we get an HD version we’ll definitely swap it out, but it still looks so great that we want it now.
Kotaku made a proposition as to having these graphics in the next Gears of War game, and we definitely wouldn’t mind that. Check some screens below, hit the link above to see the rest.

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: LeChuck’s Revenge announced, hitting this summer
Yup, like was being speculated last weekend, LucasArts has just announced that they’re going to be releasing a special edition of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge, which will be coming out on the 360, PC, PS3, and Apple App Store.
Like the last game, this one’s going to have a remastered score, hi-def graphics, full voice over, and the hint system all return. Players will also get to choose whether they want to directly control Guybrush, or use the ol’ point-and-click style of navigation. There’s also commentary from the makers of the original game, which will prove to tell us some interesting information and will allow us to the good ol’ memories of yesteryear.
“The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition really resonated with gamers young and old thanks to its classic storyline and updated gameplay features,” said LucasArts’ President Darrell Rodriguez. “We’re adding even more great new features in this sequel and can’t wait for classic Monkey Island fans and newcomers alike to experience perhaps the most beloved installment in the franchise ever.”
Get prepared for all of the goodness of this special edition this summer. In the mean time, check out some screenshots of the new game, as well as some comparison shots between the original game.

Microsoft says that the 360 doesn’t need blu-ray, but we already knew that
Microsoft knows what the hell’s up when it comes to hi-definition and consoles, and red rings, and stuff like that. Speaking to CVG, Stephen McGill, the director of Xbox and Entertainment had some interesting information about the future of blu-ray and the 360.
“We have no plans to adopt [a] Blu-Ray drive for the Xbox 360. In fact, the future of home entertainment started last autumn when Xbox 360 became the first and only console to offer instant-on 1080p streaming HD movies.”
It makes sense. I mean blu-ray is the past, streaming HD movies on a video game console is the hear and now. Oh wait…yeah, what the fuck? Maybe in the Xbox 720 or whatever their next console is, but it is definitely surprising to hear that they have no plans of blu-ray on the 360. Oh well I guess, I don’t think that multi-layered discs could help at all..right?

People are really taking advantage of how awesome Bad Company 2 is
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is out, and people are all over the online doing this and that, ranting and raving about how good the game is (oh wait, are those servers up yet?). Well here are two videos of people taking advantage of explosives, and using them to thwart the other their own team. I say it’s only a matter of time before buildings are flying through the air because of explosives.
