Halo: Reach won’t be letting you duel wield… we say “good, we weren’t using it anyways!”
On the latest episode of G4 TV (don’t call us out we weren’t actually watching it), Geoff Keighley announced that duel wielding hasn’t been implemented into Halo: Reach yet. Honestly though, I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal because nobody used it (unless there’s akimbo shotguns, baby).
He also announced that players will be able to completely control the look of their Spartan’s, and however you wish to pimp them out, they’ll look the part in the single player game and online too. That’s about it for your daily interesting news on Halo: Reach.
We’ll see you tomorrow for more disappointments, until then, keep being a douche and using the akimbo shotguns in Modern Warfare 2.

Valve actually thinking about developing on the PS3? Wait! They’re “sure” of it!?
Valve aren’t the best at developing on the PS3, and when we say that, we mean that they don’t develop on the PS3 (we’re not counting the Orange Box because that was absolute shit). They are also notorious for making comments confirming their non-developing on the system. Well now Chet Faliszek at the company has come out with a statement that makes some of us think that they have something up their sleeve for the PS3. If not, then they might at least port a game onto the console.
“Before we do anything on the PS3 we need to be able to support it in the right way,” explains the Left 4 Dead writer. “But we’ll look at it, and I’m sure down the road we’ll do it.”
They’re “sure” they’ll do it. Okay, I want to see it Valve. I really do. I’m actually starting to feel sorry for PS3 owners who haven’t got to play Left 4 Dead yet, please just let the torment stop already…

Sony patents a “universal game controller”
Yeah, so you’ve got your universal remote for everything that attaches to your TV, but what about game consoles? Well Sony is right on this one patenting a new universal game controller. The patent was created back in August of 2008 but only appeared online yesterday. Here’s what the patent says:
“Just like remote controls, game consoles, and thus game controllers, are becoming widespread. It is not surprising to find more than one game consoles in a household, especially when competing game console manufacturers attempt to attract unconventional consumer groups in the gaming industry. As understood herein, it would be useful to have a universal controller that would be able to work with a variety of game consoles.”
What it would do is have a touch display, and depending on what console you’d like to play, the controller of that console would magically pop right up and you could just use the touch screen! But wait, the patent also goes on to say:
“This document describes an adaptable or universal game controller which can be used to emulate the controllers of popular game consoles, such as, without limitation, the PlayStation.TM. made by Sony, a controller made by Nintendo, X-box.TM. game controllers made by Microsoft, Amiga CD-32.TM. controllers, Atari Jaguar.TM. controllers, Gravis Gamepad.TM. controllers, Sega controllers, and Turbographics controllers, one or more of which terms may be subject to trademark protection. For ease of exposition trademark symbols will not be further used herein.”
Sound like some sort of iteration of the virtual console on the PS3? I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It seems like a good idea though, although I’m not really fond of a touch screen interface for controlling games, I could see where it would work.
Universal game console anybody?

Don’t worry, Final Fantasy XI isn’t biting the dust…. yet
As if 6 years wasn’t long enough already, we’re getting more news via tweets that your guys’ precious Final Fantasy XI Online won’t be leaving soon. The tweet was made by Square Enix’s honcho Yoichi Wada (like his avatar?).
“There seems to be a rumor that FFXI is ending, but if that was done, we’d be in trouble.”
There’s still tons of people playing the game…I don’t know why, but they just are. So I guess everybody playing this has a while to keep hacking their way through the brand new online world that is FFXI.

Red Steel 2 creative director believes that the game is pretty awesome and original
It looks like Jason Vandenberghe, the creative director for Red Steel 2 thinks that his game is going to pretty much be the shit. But he’s not just saying that, he says.
“It’s incredibly satisfying, really exciting. I’ve been working in games for 12 years and this is the first time that I feel we’re going to give the fans something really cool that they’ve never seen before. And I genuinely mean that. It’s not just marketing bs, this is something new that you’ve never done before and it’s really fun. It’s a great feeling to be able to say that” - Creative Director, Jason Vandenberghe
I’m glad to see that Mr. Vandenberghe is excited about the game. I own and have played the first one, but I wasn’t really a fan of the Wii controls for doing first person shooting. The sword-play was great but I just couldn’t jive with it. I really think that I’ll give Red Steel 2 a try and see how the game turns out. I’m hoping for the best!

Nothing but Final Fantasy spin-offs hitting the Wii
In a recent interview with Motomu Toriyama, director for the latest Final Fantasy games has revealed some interesting information that leaves little hope as to whether there would be an actual Final Fantasy installment on the Wii. I don’t think it’s happening.
“In terms of Final Fantasy in general, the teams are really aiming for movie quality graphics and really dramatic storylines. For now, at least, consoles like the Xbox 360 and PS3 are the best place for this kind of cinematic experience to take place. We don’t feel that it needs to transition necessarily to a handheld platform.” - Motomu Toriyama, director
Seriously though, I like the high-def Final Fantasy games, don’t get me wrong. It’s just that I would really like to see some classic work done with the series. I could dig some 2D, sprites, or maybe a different art style (maybe less androgynous characters?). But why would that ever happen?

Urban Dragon Quest Slime Graffiti is quiet hip and urban
Gaming graffiti is quiet possibly the best type of graffiti out there. I mean, a lot of people will understand what it actually is, and others will say “man, he must have been on one hell of an acid trip”. Yeah, we were.
Well graffiti artist GameBoyOne’s pixel art has hit the streets yet again with the oh-so-popular slime from the Dragon Quest Series. A masterpiece I tell you.

Spy & Pyro – The best cartoon about anything ever
Team Fortress 2 is one of those games that will really never age. The art style, the fighting, and just the characters really never get old (at least to me). The countless “meet the” videos for all of the characters were great, but beyond that we haven’t got much (we’re not counting the 1 billion+ garry’s mod videos).
Well this video goes above and beyond all fan videos before it. It’s called Spy & Pyro, and was created by Andrew Kepple. The video incorporates all of the Team Fortress 2 characters and references other video games like Super Mario bros, Spyro, Frogger, and every single Valve game. Plus it’s full of marriages, teeth going in bodies, and sexual innuendo’s.
That’s really all I can say without spoiling anything. Check out the video above and see just how awesome it is.
