Everybody needs help in the economic crisis, even Mario
Yep, it looks like even Mario is having a hard time in the economic crisis. Kotaku reader Aaron S. found this sign at a local pawn shop in Eastern Maryland. I say we need more signs illegally using gaming characters. It just makes everything right, ya know?

Weekend Primed: 10 of the Greatest Video Game freakouts ever
Video games are a form of entertainment. They provide us something to do when we’re bored, they give us an excuse not to hang out with our loved ones, and they keep us competitive with other people. There are some of those people though that content to freaking out over video games whenever they get killed, they do something wrong, or their team is a bunch of douches. Well this Weekend Primed is a homage to the greatest freak-outs over video games caught on video (oh, and we’re not posting the goddamn World of Warcraft “greatest freakout ever” or the N64 kid videos).
10) The art of bitching while playing World of Warcraft
It takes a lot of skill to be in public, where people can watch you, and be able to bitch this much while playing World of Warcraft. It’s two minutes of these two bitching at each other (mostly the prick in the white jacket).
9) Monitor gets with help of keyboard and DDR frustration
The video is pretty cool when he’s rockin out to DDR on a keyboard. But I think that’s one of the better questions though: who the fuck plays DDR with a keyboard? That’s his first problem. The next is, look at his room! I mean this person should be in a padded white room if he’s putting his head through the wall because of video games.

First Final Fantasy XIII Commercial; PS3 sitting in the corner crying after this one
Final Fantasy XIII got it’s first commercial in the states during the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game. Other than noticing that Kansas beat Iowa State, Kentucky beating Tennessee, Villanova smashing Providence, and Purdue beating Iowa, the commercial only mentioned the Xbox 360 and the special edition 360 being sold with the game. No PS3…or PC.
Wait.
Yeah, but we’re hypothesizing that the PS3 version is just THAT awesome that it doesn’t need a commercial, or even to be mentioned in a commercial. Yeah, that’s what it is.

Hackers causing massive shit in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex Edition
I didn’t even think that enough people played Modern Warfare on the Wii to even bother with hacking it, but after viewing the video above, these hackers are wrecking havoc on the world.

Motivational Picture of the Day: The iPad is Clearly the Future
When we first heard about the announcement about the Apple iPad, there was a hint of skepticism in our voices (or text) when we were talking about it. Well to accommodate that, we decided to sum-up our feelings about the new device in the form of a motivational poster. Because that’s just how we roll.

George Hotz hacks the PS3 100%
For the 3 years that the PS3 has been out, it had never been completely hacked to where homebrew and games could be played on it. Well the infamous iPhone hacker George Hotz has announced that he has 100% hacked the console. He was quoted saying on his twitter:
”Today I validated my theories about running the isolated SPUs on the PS3 as crypto engines. The PS3 is 100% hacked. So where my homebrew at?”
Does this mean backups and homebrew? It better.
Oh, and good job guys!

The chances of Alan Wake hitting the PC are equal to the chances of a Halo on the PS3
Back in the beginning days of good ol’ Alan Wake, it was confirmed that the game was coming out on the 360 and PC consoles. Well now that means nothing, as it has been confirmed by Microsoft that the game won’t be shining a light on the PC.
Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience “Alan Wake” was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform.
Given the lack of news about the PC version of the game, it’s not very surprising, but still disappointing as I really think that the game would have worked well on PC.

Half-Life 2 Mod: Post Script Episode Microview
Well I don’t know what happened, but for some reason it took me fucking forever to play through the first part of Post Script, the 5-part episodic mod based on Half-Life 2. So here is a microview (that’s a short review don’tcha know), and I’m going to do one for each episode that’s released.
Okay, so in Post Script you’re left in a post-apocalyptic world, where you explore the world, go through the remains of the town, and explore everything. The game is very puzzle-based, whether they’re easy or not. Everything even from like getting into a building is kind of built into a puzzle no matter how much brain power it takes or not.
Along the way in the game, you are being talked to by Celeste, and you are constantly being referred to as “cherub”. We don’t know much more about this at this point, but the tone in which Celeste talks, how negative but also the tone of her voice when she (I’m assuming) is talking to you is very unique and clever. Celeste’s narrative also is very real and down to earth, like a real person is talking to you.
Overall the game takes about 15 minutes to complete, it took me 2 months to actually play through and get this post up about (sorry Lewis), but the mod is great and honestly, I’m stoked for the other episodes for Post Script. I really think that this could be the start to something great. Keep it up.
You can download the game at the official Post Script website. Go check it out, download it, and enjoy it.

Brand New Alan Wake trailer is pretty
Yep, today seems to be an exciting day for news. First it’s some Mega Man 10, then some Left 4 Dead 2, more Left 4 Dead 2, and now a new Alan Wake trailer. The trailer was released at the Microsoft X10 press event in San Francisco today, along with a May 18, 2010 release date. This year is so…god…damn…exciting.
