Possibly not a bright future for Rock Band and EA
Green Day: Rock Band is coming out sometime in the future, this we know. What we didn’t know is that there might not be a bright future for Rock Band and EA. After a comment on a conference call COO John Schappert, he remarked that EA “hope that maybe there’s an opportunity to continue the relationship”. Huh.
Well The Beatles: Rock Band didn’t do so hot. I mean it sold a couple million, but it’s obvious that EA thought it would be a big seller. Could the problem possibly be over-saturation in the market of *cough* whored-out music games?
Of course not.
I guess we’ll see in the future what the relationship between EA and the Rock Band franchise might be. We can only hope that they slow down to 1 game per week.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is setting records and it’s not even out!
Yep, you heard me right. You can pretty much tell a game is going to do good when it’s setting records when it’s not even out. DICE has announced that the Bad Company 2 demo is on track to be the fastest downloaded demo in EA history, already amassing 2 million downloads over Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is already in the hands of almost 2½ million gamers, and it hasn’t even shipped yet,” said Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “This massive rush to experience the game early is proof positive that action gamers are looking for more. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 delivers on every front. This is intelligent, strategic warfare that our competitors simply cannot replicate.”
And if you haven’t downloaded the Bad Company 2 demo yet any system, it has been confirmed that you may indeed be a communist, terrorist, or nazi. Or all of the above. You don’t want that, do you?

If you didn’t want to hear jokes about Tony Hawk: Ride, you should never have put out the game
It’s hard enough for me to even make one post about Tony Hawk: Ride in a day because of how shitty it is. Well me making fun of the game is exactly what Activision community dude Dan Amrich says he doesn’t want to hear.
“You can all just keep the TH board jokes. There’s only 2 things to do: make it better or make you feel like you wasted $. I vote better.”
Hahaha yeah, too bad we already wasted our money. Seriously though, I’m hoping for a better game, A LOT better. Just let me get that across Activision: if there’s another skateboarding game that uses the ride board that is 3 hours long, has the shittiest controls ever, and makes me want to jump off a moving burro into a canyon, I’m going to be pissed.
Just saying.

Bejeweled: Keeping us from being productive since 2000
Yep, it has been freaking 10 years since the first rendition of Bejeweled hit the PC back in the primitive 2000. Well, PopCap is starting a 10-month long birthday party for the game originally called Diamond Mine (it’s a BYOB). Then the game has hit countless platforms, and what would a casual game be without a million shitty spin-offs.
“Bejeweled has obviously succeeded beyond our wildest dreams,” said Jason Kapalka, co-creator of the game and co-founder and chief creative officer at PopCap. “When Brian Fiete, John Vechey and I built the game ten years ago, we had no grand aspirations for it or PopCap, we were trying to survive as a company during the depths of the dot-com collapse. Little did we know we’d still be selling copies of Bejeweled a decade later!”
Well we say congratulations to Bejeweled and PopCap! Bejeweled is the crux of our lives here at Default Prime and SlackrMedia, which explains a lot about how we only manage to get three or four posts up per day.
Oh! PopCap is going to be holding contest on the http://www.bejeweled.com/ website that you can check out and enter in, and you can also check out their latest installment in the Bejeweled franchise of Bejeweled Blitz on Facebook.

Activision has hope for the RIDE board; I say you should give up on that now
Tony Hawk ride…well, let me say that it was kind of like spending money to actually pick up the dog shit in your yard. You don’t want to do it at-fucking-all, and of course you don’t want to pay for it! Yep, that’s it. Unfortunately, there is still hope in the board…yeah.
“This year, with the hardware complete, we’ll be focused on improving the software to unlock the full potential of the board.” - Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith
I’m not gonna say that you couldn’t do something cool on the board, of course you could, it’s just the track record that it has that leads us to automatically assume that anything using the Ride board with the Tony Hawk name attached to it will be shit.
Fair assumption.

How about some new freakin’ maps for ya?

Splinter Cell: Conviction IS STILL a 360/PC exclusive
We all know that Splinter Cell: Conviction is supposed to be an exclusive for the 360 and PC, but we couldn’t help but speculate that it would be hitting the PS3 at some other time. Well, during Ubisoft’s fiscal year 2009-10 Q3 conference call today it was said that: “…this time it’s going to be PC and Xbox 360 exclusive”.
So from what we know now, it’s PC and 360 all the way. Sorry, PS3.

FIFA quitters about to get their comeuppance
Ragequitting is present in almost every game where you can compete online and people act like little bitches. Yep, that’s encompasses gaming as a whole. Well, one of the biggest complaints about this as of recent is with FIFA 10, and looking forward to FIFA 11’s development, EA has released a statement in an interview about fixing the problem.
In an interview with EuroGamer, Simon Humber, 2010 FIFA World Cup producer says that they might be working up some type of reward system for FIFA 11.
Complex problem,” considering some might leave a game because of a dropped connection, rather than giving up. The game has a “five-minute” rule that allows players to bail in the first five minutes of a game if the uplink proves spotty.”
“After that there should be a penalty; just in the online world there are complexities that mean by the time the data comes back to our servers, something there means it doesn’t award the win to the right person. So we’re always looking to improve that,” Humber told Eurogamer.
Unfortunately no changes will be able to be made when 2010 FIFA World Cup releases in late April, but in FIFA 11 the fix will be implemented.

Pick up the Uncharted 2 Score on this revolutionary thing called a CD!
Games are so prolific and obviously awesome nowadays that they all have to have soundtracks of the game’s score. Makes sense. BioShock 2 has one, well…I guess you can get a soundtrack for almost any game. But that’s not my point!
You can now pick up the Uncharted 2 score, which has been on iTunes for a while now, in an actual store, on an actual CD. But where can you pick this majestic beast up at?
Of course at your local Peaches or Sam Goody or Camelot Music!
I haven’t heard of any of those, but you can get it there, and you can check out some previews of the music at the PlayStation.blog.
