Skate 3 riding up to your console on May 11th

skate3 billboard 656x369 585x329 Skate 3 riding up to your console on May 11th

It looks like we’ve finally (cause we’ve been waiting so long) got a release date for Skate 3. The game will be hitting North America on May 11th and worldwide on May 14th, 2010. I’m not gonna hate on the game though, given that the only competitor is the Tony Hawk franchise (which we all know is going down the shitter).

“Since the very beginning of the Skate franchise, we have captured the true essence of skateboarding, be it from the feel of nailing that perfect trick, to the feeling of just hanging out and sessioning with your friends,” said Jason DeLong, Senior Producer. “For us, SKATE 3 is the culmination of this endeavor – the most connected, accessible and social skateboarding experience yet.”

The roster of the game packs all the heavy hitters and most of my favorite skaters including Cardiel, Dyrdek, Haslam, and Appleyard. Click the “read more” to see the rest of the list.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Quotes trailer released

It looks like we’ve got even more Bad Company 2 news, with an all-new trailer which shows quotes from a lot of reviewers of the game so far, and they even threw in some pretty badass kills into the video as well. Rockets taking down helicopters, buildings falling on enemy squads, I want this game so unbelievably bad.

EA confirms more multiplayer content for Bad Company 2

c battlefieldbc2 01 585x329 EA confirms more multiplayer content for Bad Company 2

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 isn’t even out yet and EA is pushing for it to take the number one spot for online games. They’ve just announced that all new maps will be unclocked for the game when it comes out on March 2nd and in the UK on March 5th. The pack will include the Laguna Alta map playable in Conquest mode and Nelson Bay map playable in Rush mode, bringing the total number of multiplayer maps up to 10.

Want a little bit more? Later in March yet another map pack will be released FOR FREE! That one will give players the ability to play the Arica Harbor map in Conquest mode and Laguna Presa map in Rush mode. Bam! Howdoya like that?

“Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will redefine online modern warfare on March 2. We are deeply committed to the FPS community and Battlefield fans worldwide,” said Patrick Bach, Senior Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “These first two map packs are just the beginning. We’re planning ongoing support for the community by always keeping the experience fresh and ensuring the best possible gameplay experience.”

Keep it up EA, we love what you’re doing, and we want Bad Company 2.

Now.

Did you want Dedicated Servers and LAN for Command & Conquer 4? Too bad for you…

command and conquer 4 in game 585x329 Did you want Dedicated Servers and LAN for Command & Conquer 4? Too bad for you...First it’s Modern Warfare 2, then Starcraft II, and now Command & Conquer 4. It has been officially confirmed that the game will not be offering any LAN or dedicated server support. Another game that brought LAN gaming into the limelight is no longer offering it.

Sam Bass told Destructoid that the reason for this is because the system that the game is designed around is online, all stored on EA’s servers. So the game is going to require a constant internet connection.

“[The system is] across single-player, multiplayer and skirmish and all the information is stored in a server. So if you go to another machine — friend’s house, Internet café — whatever, you can login with your profile and all the stuff you’ve unlocked is accessible to you there. It all lives on a server so you can’t really do dedicated servers with that.”

EA promises that the whole networking for the game has been kicked up a couple notches, being more stable, and just updated in general which will offer quicker entrance to games and everything that you have to do in the game.

Honestly I don’t really see the big deal. I’ve never been a big PC gamer so I’ve never done LAN gaming that much, but I really don’t see this as a big deal. People are gonna pick up the game whether it has LAN and dedicated servers or not.

Possibly not a bright future for Rock Band and EA

green day rock band1 585x328 Possibly not a bright future for Rock Band and EAGreen Day: Rock Band is coming out sometime in the future, this we know. What we didn’t know is that there might not be a bright future for Rock Band and EA. After a comment on a conference call COO John Schappert, he remarked that EA “hope that maybe there’s an opportunity to continue the relationship”. Huh.

Well The Beatles: Rock Band didn’t do so hot. I mean it sold a couple million, but it’s obvious that EA thought it would be a big seller. Could the problem possibly be over-saturation in the market of *cough* whored-out music games?

Of course not.

I guess we’ll see in the future what the relationship between EA and the Rock Band franchise might be. We can only hope that they slow down to 1 game per week.
