Final Fantasy XIII Fastest selling title in the franchise history in the UK

Yup, Square Enix has announced that their latest installment in the series, Final Fantasy XIII, is the fastest selling title in the franchise history in the UK. The game has already shipped more than 5 million units, and is topping UK charts and rockin’ the reviews (actually that’s not so good).

Either way, they’re pretty stoked about it. We’re pretty indifferent seeing as how it’s…yeah, is what it is.

Final Fantasy XIII is on the bottom of Ray Muzyka’s “to-play” list

I’m going to go out and say that I don’t own nor have I even touched Final Fantasy XIII yet. I’m a huge RPG fan and a big fan of the series, but just because of my lack of time and moolah, I can’t afford to get it. It’s also…not something that I’m really looking forward to. Just from reviews and what people have personally told me, well I’ve just lost a lot of excitement.

It looks like Ray Muzyka, one of the head honcho’s over at BioWare is pretty not-so-interested in the game as well, expressing this in a Game Informer interview.

“I’ve been reading some reviews on that one. That may be on the bottom of my list right now”

“It’s kind of a question mark. It would have been right up there before I read about it, but some of this other stuff is probably more pressing.”

I can totally see where he’s coming from on it. Although it will be really interesting to see what he has to say once he’s got around to playing the game (although I’m not sure that he has that many pressing things to do).

Final Fantasy XIII to hit Xbox 360 with 3 discs

According to Gamefly Final Fantasy XIII will be hitting the Xbox 360 with not one, not two, but three DVDs. That’s two more discs then its PlayStation 3 counter part which is on a single Blu-Ray disc. As of right now only the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII has been released in Japan, so at the moment we can’t have any side by side comparasions of the game on different systems. But we do know that the PlayStation 3 version will let you play through the entire game without moving once. Where as the Xbox 360 version is going to require you to stand up twice to swap the discs.

Square Enix reveals Final Fantasy XIII Collector’s Edition

Of course, as with every single article about collector’s or special edition video games, they have to come out with every fucking video game that is quasi-hyped at least. It’s fucking stupid. Half of them aren’t collectibles, nor are they special. OH YAY ART BOOKS. Jesus fuck.

I’m not saying this is true about Final Fantasy XIII though. It’s a solid series (albeit super hyped), and if they can last from the NES until now, I’ll give them the collector’s edition on their upcoming game. The package will include the Original Sound Selection, The World of Final Fantasy XIII (hardback art book), exclusive art prints, a decal. Well done Square Enix, well done.

I don’t know how much more the collector’s edition is gonna cost, but it is going to be available launch day in the states so if you’re interested go check it out.

BAM! Final Fantasy XIII Racks up 1 Million Sales on First Day

Talk about making everything else look like shit. Square Enix has just announced that on the first day of sales for Final Fantasy XIII in Japan is totaling over 3 million not including the system bundles. That’s pretty fucking huge considering that there are only about 4 million PS3′s in Japan the last time I looked at numbers, so that’s a huge fucking attachment ratio. Kudos Square, can’t wait to try out the game!

Final Fantasy XIII PS3 and 360 Differences Announced

It has long been on peoples minds what would be the differences between the 360 and PS3 versions of Final Fantasy XIII. Well, besides the 360 being shipped on multiple discs, it has also been confirmed that the audio and video in the 360 version is going to be compressed, while the opposite is true on the PS3. Not exciting at all. I want 100,000 posts comparing screenshots!

Final Fantasy XIII Boxart Revealed

Well, I don’t find this particularly exciting news, but it is indeed news that people want. The official boxart for the very highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII has been released for both the 360 and the PS3. Assuming that they keep this art, it is going to be the exact same in Europe as well albeit the rating in the bottom-left will be different.

The last and “official” Final Fantasy XIII Trailer Released

It looks like Square Enix has released the FINAL trailer for the upcoming and very highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII. Showed above, the trailer showcases some footage that we haven’t seen of the game before, and is really setting the game up for the 3 weeks until it’s launch in Japan. There is some content that was shown in some of the older trailers is in here, but almost all of it is new (and exciting).

Final Fantasy XIII Has a Release Date

Final Fantasy XIII finally has a release date for both North America and Europe. It will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on March 9, 2010. It may end up being almost three months after the Japanese release, but I still can’t wait.

Possible Final Fantasy XIII Box art Revealed?

It looks like we’ve got a solid contender in what would be a possible Final Fantasy XIII boxart. The boxart comes from Play-Asia, and while marked as a “preliminary picture” looks pretty official and legit to us. Not only is the box art an interesting part but it is also sporting a “T” rating, and not the “RP” that we’ve been seeing on websites and boxes thusfar. So I guess we’re just going to have to be taking this as a rumor right now, but coming from a large online reatailer such as Play-Asia, I wouldn’t doubt that it’s the real deal.
