Nintendo Talking about HD

At Nintendo’s latest financial briefing Q&A, talk about HD was everywhere. Nintendo Everything has posted a great amount of quotes straight from Nintendo about the possibilities of HD and just the topic in general.

It looks like HD is not out of the question, but Nintendo is really focused on the ease of the use for the developers to make games, but development costs and all of that factor into everything too. So I guess we’ll see where all of this goes in the future.

“I believe that we should take the most appropriate balance. We are not too much concerned about if the technology itself is the state-of-the-art or rather old-fashioned. If we can find out the most appropriate medium, between SD and HD, and flexibly move around them depending on the game’s contents, it will be good, I think.” – Genyo Takeda, General Manager, Integrated Research & Development Division

Wii emulator can do 720p HD

There’s a thread on the NeoGaf forums that are showing screenshots of people playing Wii games in an emulator that will display the games in full 720p HD. You’ll be surprised. I thought that the games looked pretty nice before, the games look ten times better running them through this. Here’s just one screenshot to show you how it looks.

Xbox 360 head wrong – Blu-ray doing just fine

Recently, Xbox 360 product manager, Aaron Greenberg, indicated in an interview that the Blu-ray is not the future. He also goes on to take stabs at Sony for some of its decisions regarding the PS3.
