Top 50 sales from Media Create for 1/18 – 1/24
Wow, it’s been awhile, and it looks like we’re getting an expanded version of the Media Create sales for last week, this time in the form of a top 50. New Super Mario bros. Wii is still doing extremely well on the Wii holding the number 1 spot, then there’s some Kingdom Hearts on the PSP, of course Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort, and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite moving up into the top 10 from number 13 last week.

Dragon Quest VI gets a Japanese commercial that makes no sense
Japan puts out video games. One example of these “video games” is Square Enix’s Dragon Quest VI on the DS. So to market the game, they put out a commercial (crazy huh?), but it’s kinda weird. Maybe just because it’s Japanese, but I don’t get it. It does make for a good watch though and a good “what the fuck” at the end of it all.

Here are the hardware sales from Media Create for Japan! I don’t think it’s that exciting, but it could be so BAM! The Wii stays at the top, the PSP and PS3 knock the DSi from second place, and the PSPgo takes last place being beaten by a last generation console. Good job on that one Sony!

PS3 – 114,368
DSi – 92,461
DSi LL – 70,643

Nintendo Dominates in Japan’s Top Ten games of 2009
The days are growing closer and closer until we’re thrown into the year 2010. Top 10 and the best game lists are everywhere (we’re too lazy to do them), and expect them to come for the next week or two. One that we are going to post on is the top ten games of 2009 for Japan, coming from Famitsu. These games are the ones the sold the most throughout the 51 weeks.
- [NDS] Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (Square Enix) – 4.046.945
- [NDS] Pokemon Heart Gold / Soul Silver (Pokemon Co.) – 3.233.000
- [NDS] Friend Collection (Nintendo) – 2.065.000
- [WII] New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo) – 1.972.000
- [PS3] Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix) – 1.516.532
- [WII] Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo) – 1.406.753
- [WII] Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo) – 1.165.000
- [WII] Monster Hunter 3 (Capcom) – 939.707
- [PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP the Best) (Capcom) - 894.469
- [NDS] Inazuma Eleven 2: Threat of the Invaders – Fire / Blizzard (Level 5) – 817.000
As is to be expected, the Wii and DS dominated the market this year, whist the PS3 and PSP both got a mention with Final Fantasy XIII and Monster Hunger Freedom Unite, but the poor ol’ 360 is left in the dust.
