Netflix has a question on a survey about it’s service…on the DS!?

netflix 585x200 Netflix has a question on a survey about its service...on the DS!?A poll from Netflix has a very odd question that points towards maybe it’s service expanding to the Nintendo DS, or just some thought into the prospect. Don’t believe me and can’t read the image above? Here’s exactly what the question says:

Imagine that Netflix offers its subscribers the ability to instantly watch movies and & TV episodes on their Nintendo DS. The selection available to instantly watch includes some new releases, lots of classics and TV episodes. There are no advertisements or trailers, and movies start in as little as 30 seconds. You can fast-forward, rewind, and pause or watch again. The movies & TV episodes you instantly watch are included in your Netflix membership at no additional fee.

So the service that’s on almost all platforms about now, just bite-sized. What do you guys think? I can’t imagine that they’d be able to get the whole thing running in a way that would allow videos to be streamed in a non-choppy manner, let alone at a high enough quality for people to be satisfied. I must say though, it would be damn cool if they could do it, and I would be more than stoked to hear them doing something of the sort.

Netflix finally gets a home on the Wii

504x netflix wii Netflix finally gets a home on the WiiIt’s been a couple months since we’ve heard any speculation about Netflix coming to Nintendo’s little console, but it looks like it has finally been confirmed. If you’re already a person of Netflix, then there will be no additional cost for the Wii, just have some fast internet and it’s gonna be rollin’ like that.

“Our research shows that 86 percent of all U.S. Wii consoles are located in the living room,” said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. “The Wii console is the social hub around which friends and family members gather to play games and have fun. Soon both new and longtime Wii owners will enjoy the benefits of Netflix – and a variety of informational and entertainment options – by being Netflix members and connecting their consoles to the Internet.”

“Our goal is to offer Netflix members as many ways as possible to watch movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix right to their TVs and to give non-members more and compelling reasons to consider the service,” said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings. “Joining forces with Nintendo, which has been so immensely popular with consumers since its introduction, is a very meaningful step in that direction.”

It is planned to be released coming on this spring, and as everyone expected, a Netflix streaming disc will need to be present in order for this all to work which will of course be free to subscribers and will offer up the interface to download any TV shows and movies at any moment…ANYTIME!

PS3 Netflix Doesn’t worry Microsoft at all

nxe community section PS3 Netflix Doesnt worry Microsoft at allRemember when we reported that the PS3 will be getting Netflix streaming, joining the 360 with the same capabilities. Of course the only having to pay the $8.99 for the Netflix subscription and not having to worry about buying Xbox Live Gold makes the PS3 a cheaper and more appealing option. Well, Microsoft has come out and from their statements it seems like they’re really not worried at all about this change in things.

The Netflix experience on Xbox LIVE is unique and reflects our commitment for social entertainment. We believe we offer an experience today that is a generation ahead of what others are offering,” said an MS spokesman, in response to the PS3’s new coup. “For a little over $4 a month Xbox LIVE Gold membership is hands-down the best value in home entertainment, and gives you exclusive access multi-player gaming and early demos as well as Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, Last.fm, 1 vs 100 and more.”

I didn’t know 1 vs 100 was actually a selling point, or could be a selling point for anything, but more power to them if they can use it to their advantage. Also, if you already have a PC, can’t you already get on Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, and Last.fm? Well, it looks like they just have to keep making up ridiculous things to justify the price of being a Gold member on Xbox Live. Drop the price you douches, now.

PlayStation 3 gets Netflix streaming

Netflix PS3

If you have a Netflix account and a PlayStation 3 you might want to keep your eye on next month. PlayStation Blog confirmed that Netflix and Sony have a deal to stream movies straight to your PS3. The service will be entirely for Netflix members. Oddly enough though the service requires a blu-ray disc which Netflix will provide completely free of charge. So much for Microsoft’s supposed exclusive deal with Netflix.

No Netflix Streaming For PS3 Or Wii

No Netflix Streaming For PS3 Or Wii

Were you hoping Sony or Nintendo would be launching their own streaming video  service with Netflix eventually? Then you are out of luck, it was confirmed that their streaming service is an Xbox 360 exclusive.

This exclusive partnership offers you the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from Netflix to the television via Xbox 360. Xbox 360 will be the only game console to offer this movie-watching experience, available to Xbox LIVE Gold members who are also Netflix unlimited plan subscribers**, at no additional cost.

While you may never seen Netflix on the Wii or PS3, each console already has video services available, although the Wii’s is only available in Japan at the moment.
