Playstation Home Update – Ghostbusters, SOCOM, EA Sports

playstation home logo Playstation Home Update Ghostbusters, SOCOM, EA Sports

As posted on Sony’s Playstation blog here:  http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/06/17/coming-to-playstation-home-new-socom-space-ghostbusters-apartment-ea-sports-complex-update-more/#more-12106, a rather massive update is coming to PlayStation Home today.

A long-awaited SOCOM Tactical Operations Center gamespace will be launched where you can meet with members of the SOCOM community and plot your strategies using a Telestrator tool to coordinate assaults, etc.

Also coming to Playstation Home this week is another first for the “still in open beta” platform, a Ghostbusters Firehouse will be available for purchase as your own “virtual apartment”.  This 3-floor space comes with several pieces of furniture and assorted decorations including your very own Ecto-1.  Rumor has it the basement’s ghost containment unit may leak supernatural activity from time to time.

EA Sports is updating their EA Sports Complex with additional racing tracks, a Racing Boost Shop, Poker Updates, and …the disappearance of the yet-to-be opened “Golf Pro Shop”.  Does this mean another update is coming soon?

As far as in-game items are concerned, Home-rs will be able to download free inFamous Cole McGrath costumes for anyone who downloaded the demo and completed it.

Namco Museum Essentials coming to PSN

nacomsuemspsn Namco Museum Essentials coming to PSN

Japan’s Namco Museum Essentials is crossing the pond to America’s PlayStation Network this July.  More like an app than a collection of games, the downloadable will serve as a hub for various classic Namco arcade games, such as Pac-man, Galaga, Dig Dug, Dragon Spirit, Xevious, as well as new 1080p re-makes like Xevious: Resurrection.  As a Playstation downloadble, it will include trophies, but also included will be items that players can unlock in the games and show off in PlayStation Home, something that was long ago promised to Sony owners but has so far been relatively unrealized.

Namco Bandai will also be creating a new gamespace within PlayStation Home simultaneously with the release of Museum Essentials. It will serve as the hub for all of Namco Bandai’s upcoming downloadable games.  PlayStation Home items can also be unlocked for those who visit the space. All in all, it looks as though Home fans and fans of classic Namco arcade games will have something to look forward to in just a few short weeks.

10 Quick Ways To Improve Home

home 10 Quick Ways To Improve Home

Home is finally here, and people are already thinking of ways to fix it. Alas, the service isn’t bad at all, but it’s just took a little too long  to develop, and yeah, 3 years too late. I read through this list though, and it does have some good points, and they would all make home just that much better.

Sort out the server issues ASAP

OK, so Sony are probably already trying to do this, but I doubt it’s
ASAP. As if Home’s build-up hadn’t underwhelmed everyone enough, when
it finally launched only a handful of people could actually log on.
It’s nearly a week later and PS3 users, myself included, are still
having troubles logging into Home. You can call it an ‘open beta’ all
you want, Sony, but your user base regards it as the real deal and
they’re annoyed they can’t even explore the damn thing when they want
to. This issue also begs what’s an unfair comparison with Microsoft’s
NXE, which launched almost flawlessly. The whole ordeal casts Sony and
Home in a bad light in already worrying times, and needs to be fixed,
pronto.

Check out the full list here
