Rock Band DLC Update: Megadeth – Rust In Peace

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that the entirety of the seminal metal album Rust In Peace from Megadeth, will be added next week to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for all 3 major platforms to commemorate the kick off of a month-long jaunt with Exodus and Testament that will find Megadeth crossing the nation on the Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour. Rust In Peace was the band’s fourth album, released in 1990. 20 years ago and still kicking people’s asses, making this album now a classic.
Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Feb. 9) and PlayStation 3 system (Feb. 11):

Superbowl XLIV Halftime Performance DLC for Rock Band
Love Football? Love The Who? Love Rock Band? Now you can do them all together!
MTV Games and Harmonix have announced that a special recording of the performance The Who plans to play during their Super Bowl performance at halftime will be made available for DLC following the game.
“The Who Super Bowl S-mashup” will be available in the Rock Band Music Store immediately after the game on Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Wii console from Nintendo and coming soon to PlayStation®3. Yay, Sony! Thanks for making us wait!
It’s not a horrible deal though, since the DLC package will cost $1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points for what will probably be 3-4 songs.

Alice In Chains coming to Rock Band!

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that a five pack of songs from Alice In Chains will be added next week to the Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.
Rock Band DLC Additions for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 System and Wii
Alice In Chains formed in Seattle in 1987 and has since released four studio albums and sold more than 17 million albums worldwide. The band released Black Gives Way to Blue on Virgin Records Sept. 29, 2009, their first album in 14 years. Black Gives Way to Blue debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, and “Alice In Chains Pack 02” features two songs from this album, “Last of My Kind” and “Your Decision,” the latest single from the band’s new album. The pack also includes “Grind” and “Heaven Beside You,” from the band’s double-platinum, self-titled 1995 album; as well as “We Die Young” from their 1990 debut, Facelift.
Available on Xbox 360 and Wii (Jan. 12) and PlayStation 3 system (Jan. 14):

Paul McCartney brings live tracks to Rock Band

Harmonix and MTV Games today announced that a three pack of songs from Paul McCartney’s latest live album will soon be added to the Rock Band Music Store and LEGO® Rock Band Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii™.
Paul McCartney joins the more than 390 bands currently available through the Rock Band platform. With more than 1,000 songs available, Rock Band is, without question, the industry leader in providing the best selection of interactive musical content, songs and artists.
Paul McCartney’s historic three-night musical christening of New York’s Citi Field, witnessed by 120,000-plus attendees and universally hailed as a concert experience for the ages, was immortalized Nov. 17, when Hear Music/Concord Music Group released Good Evening New York City. This momentous musical experience is available in two formats: a three-disc (two CDs and one DVD) standard edition and a four-disc (two CDs and two DVDs) deluxe version, featuring expanded packaging and a bonus DVD including McCartney’s traffic-stopping, headline-making July 15 performance on the Ed Sullivan Theater marquee.
And beginning Jan. 5, Rock Band and McCartney fans will be able to download “New York City Pack 01” in the Rock Band Music Store. Harmonix DLC Announcements at Gamescom 2009

Speaking at Gamescom 2009, Alex Rigopulos, CEO and co-founder of Harmonix, the world’s leading developer of music-based games and a part of Viacom’s MTV Networks, today confirmed release details for the three Beatles albums that will be available for purchase as downloadable content in The Beatles: Rock Band Music Store by the end of this year. Abbey Road will be released on October 20, 2009, followed by the release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in November and Rubber Soul in December.
Additionally, Rigopulos revealed that tracks from Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, The Raconteurs and more will be among the artists coming to the various offerings across the Rock Band™ platform.
