Steam just hits the Mac, and what do the users do first? A complete redesign of the thing…

steam mac red 01 585x383 Steam just hits the Mac, and what do the users do first? A complete redesign of the thing...Mac users were rejoicing that they had Valve and that they could now play games that were worth a shit, and what do they do with it first? Somebody redesigns the user interface of it, and gives it a snazzy new icon. Because Mac users are anal.

The design looks a lot more “in tune” with that of the Mac interface, and anybody that’s a Mac user and is a little bothered by what Valve gave them, they can go and download the icon replacement that’ll hopefully make you feel a whole mess better.

Kotaku becomes the official news provider for Steam

custom 1269609836872 steamkotaku Kotaku becomes the official news provider for SteamIf you’re a PC gamer, odds are that you use Steam and you know that the beta is out and running for the latest version of the system. Well in the News tab of the beta, it looks like Kotaku is now the official news provider for…well, news on Steam.

Maybe it’s that we use too many swear words, don’t post a shit ton every single day, or don’t have a huge readerbase, but I think that should have been us. Touché Kotaku, you best us again.

Anyhow, congrats to Kotaku, and it looks like Steam is really wanting to integrate the community of gamers all in one place with their client, and they’re doing a great job so far. Check out the beta if you haven’t yet (it doesn’t crash, we swear).

Steam account owner sells account for $1,000

steam1gg2 585x894 Steam account owner sells account for $1,000Steam accounts can get pretty crazy. I don’t have a huge collection built up, but I know some people that get all the games that are on discounts, have all of the collections, and don’t ever play half of them.

Well this is the story of ebayer dave311freak that had a nice collection of 139 games, and was selling his account on ebay. He estimated it being worth around $2,700, but said he’d take $500 for the collection. Well he got lucky and got a remarkable $1000 for the collection!

“This account has absolutely no bans on any of the games, is in good standing with VAC, and any one of the games can be downloaded at any time on any computer with Steam on it,” the seller wrote. “I will change all of the information in that account to the winner’s email address and issue a password to the winner that he or she can change once they log in. I will also provide user account information for games that require additional credentials (Dragon Age for the DLC, Company of Heroes Account info, etc…).”

What drives this man to sell such an amazing collection of games to someone else? Well:

“As you can probably tell, I spend way too much time buying and playing video games and I am going to try to spend more time with my family and doing other hobbies,” he writes.

I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure gaming is more important than family, and is a hobby, so he screwed up there.
